1.
Ok. Assuming that everyone understood that my question was related to resolution detail and not to color or ink quality; Then what I take from this conversation is that the actual difference that makes the 4900 a better printer (which I had no doubt) is the number of nozzles ? The 4900 has 360 x 10 , and the R2880 has 160 x 8 . The number after the X being the number of cartdridges. So even though the R2880 can produce more dots per inch, the 4900 or any other pro line for that matter, can produce more or same level of detail due to head contruction.
Did I get that right ?
thank you Jeff.

 2.
Anything related to color management is very difficult to troubleshoot as there are way too many variables to consider. After reading your message , if the only thing that has changed is LR4 , start there. I dont know LR4 but start by trying to print from another color management application keep all the other variables the same. Even if you have to go to the old version of Lightroom. Maybe there is a setting in LR4 that needs to be adjusted. it's just an opinion.
good luck

 3.
This is the way I see it; and I think eventually you may too. Throwing away pixels in the first place is not the right idea, maybe for artistic editing reasons but not for avoiding a Zoom Lens.
The main reason one could argue you select different focal length lenses is to change perspective. There may be many more but this is a different subject. Now having said that, remember the beauty of photography is that the rules are to be broken and there are really no rules in art.
To go back to your question, it really delves more into mathematical pixel formulas in order to see how much you can crop and how big you can enlarge, not going into that but eventually you will see the difference in quality. You can do trial and error or you can gather all your variables , file size, pixel dimenstion, printer output quality, etc and then test until you find that limit to your satisfaction.

 4.
For those with NEC professional monitors, I have recently purchased a PA241W from B&H. $799 seems like an excellent deal. Here is the issue, anything on the screen for more than 20 seconds will leave a ghost image on the screen that yes , it will dissapear after probably twice as long. This happens in all modes, but In High Bright mode its so bad that I can read the letter on the ghost image. Is this normal on this high end professional monitor. This is totally unexpected for me ?
Continuing the story , I sent this back to B&H and they happilly exchanged it for another one, guess what exact same issue ? do they have a bad batch or am I crazy and this is normal ?
Thanks in advance whomever can shed some light.
