<p>I've worked with photographers with the Wescott Ice Light. I like it a lot, but questioned the price tag. I also figured that a cheaper video light would do the same trick. Perhaps a video light doesn't have the same coverage. Nothing's perfect... </p> <p>However, walking down the aisle of Costco, I found an LED flashlight that looked oddly similar to the Ice Light. It's pictured below and I snagged it... The light wasn't difussed enough so I covered it with wax paper. I still find it a little blinding when looking directly into it, but at $20, I couldn't resist.</p> <p>I also was thinking of buying a gel to cover it to make it more daylight balanced. What do I need to do to ensure that I correctly do this? Can I simply use the light to take a shot of an 18% gray card, set a custom white balance in camera, photograph something and note the color temp in LR?
