1.
This was my first photo with 4x5. The scan is poor and there's only a hint of the detail that can be seen on the negative with a loupe. On a lightbox you can count leaf veins and they appear clearly, sharply delineated. Also, there's printable density in the blown out part of the scan. I didn't realize how much detail was lacking with a scanner until I compared this negative to a scan.

Chamonix 045F1 / 150mm Sironar-N / Orange Filter / FP4+ / Pyrocat-HD

Please click <a href=" rel="nofollow">here to view larger on Flickr. 2.
Exquisite photo, Charlie!

It's a slow week and I want to pitch in even though I've been shooting mostly large format. This is from a cabin at an abandoned summer camp I found.

Chamonix 045F1 / 150mm Sironar-N / FP4+ / Pyrocat-HD / N+2

Please click <a href=" rel="nofollow">here to view larger on Flickr.

 3.

I suppose I understand your suspicion that a photographer might be interested in helping a novice get started, but I can attest that it does happen.

I encounter this far more often than one might think. Of course, I do my part to help others as well.

 5.
I am, Ray! In the spring of ’89 I was working at an AM easy listening station as a teen and the manager would give me stacks of promotional vinyl that didn’t fit their format. Mostly junk. This was in deep East Texas and I had never heard of the Pixies, but when I put the first release of Doolittle on the platter I was astonished. It was like the first time I heard “Slice of Life” by Bauhaus on Pacifica Radio quite a few years earlier. I knew this was going to be influential. It swells my heart with pride to hear my son singing “Caribooooooooo!”

 8.
Really nice, E. Your tonality looks better than ever!

 9.
How is Coleman stove fluid different than Ronsonol lighter fluid? I thought they were both naptha.

Also, has anyone tried using pure ethanol (Everclear) instead of the other fluids?

 10.
I haven't been posting lately because I've been testing the EI of my films now that I am using a Jobo processor. It's thrown all my film speeds and development times out of whack. The upshots are that I can develop film faster, with less chemicals, and have a more consistent process.

Also, I've moved to large format and I am spending more of my shooting time learning the ropes of that. It's been impressive what one can do with tilts, swings, rises and shifts. I wager there's as much to learn about large format as there has been to learn about photography in general.

So, I'll be around but not posting as frequently until I get over these "technical difficulties".

 11.
I rather fancy the shot, Barry. I think it's nice.
Knut, that's such a humorous shot. Love it!

 12.
Great shot, E.
Charlie, I'm digging that D-max.
Lovely shot, Knut. You know I have a fetish for such things.

 13.
You're funny, Allen! Thank you. No photos are mediocre so long as we are having fun. I love mills and gins like that, especially at night. This part of Texas is sprinkled with them.

 14.
Beautiful portrait, Barry. Top photos, everyone!

 19.
Fantastic catch, Knut. I love finding humorous things like that. Here's the last one I found. It was quite specific about where to not park.
