This was my second trip to Eastern Creek shooting bikes (Aus Supers was first), so I was able to improve slightly the technique, getting the shutter as slow as possible (about 150th/sec) is important, but the main thing is to relax and pan as smooth and linier as possible, then focus is even across the focal plane. The previous time I was panning too fast and getting uneven sharpness. Nice punchy colors makes this shot better. Tony

Taken on the dying laps of the race, lots of people left the best viewpoint grandstands, the security was kind enough to let me sit in some primo seats and rattle off a few frames before the race ended. Tony

I got great use out of my 20mm that trip home, I loved the results from the Agfa Scala tranny. There are details in the shadows, the image might benefit with lifting it out but I think this is more dramatic. Tony

It was very kind of the sheep to stop and pose for me! I only fired off two frames, the second is a shot of the sheeps backside. Tony

An early morning shot at the Casino, the light was nicely diffused and the Provia in this light temp gave a cool feel to the shot which I liked. The 20mm worked really well, gave good sharpness and did its best to keep the verticals looking right. Tony

Took this up at Watsons Bay, early morning Sunrise, I used the SB80DX to fill in some of the foreground. Tony

I took this shot in Lane Cove National Park, fiddling around with the manual focus on my 80~200mm while sitting on a rock by the rivers edge. I was trying to get good focus on a difficult surface, the shot turned out really nice, I wasn't expecting such a result. Tony

I was sitting in the passenger seat of my fathers car heading north over O'Connell Bridge in Dublin, I happened to have my camera with 80~200mm sitting on my lap, I fired off one frame before the traffic started to move, I was very happy with the result. Viewing the slide for this one is awesome, very 3D like. Tony

I was really happy with the result when viewing the slide for this shot, the detail of the rock erosion is just so sharp. The little white dots in the lower right crack was tiny styrofoam beads that were washed ashore and deposited. Tony

Yes it was a nice surprise to walk around the corner and have this scene presented to me. Viewing this slide on a projector is awesome, it was a perfect shot for Provia 100F. Tony

I was panning with the 80~200mm + TAMRON SP 1.4x converter, I set the shutter to about 180th/sec and the aperture was around F/16 at ISO400. Its my first real attempt at panning fast action. Next time I want to go to a slower TV to really blur the background, but it aint easy, lots of dud shots! Tony

Yes I decided to get the overhead power lines in the shot after I got the idea from my friend Mike who took a simialr shot a few days prior, I like the result.

I was panning with the 80~200mm at about 180th/sec, I was trying to get the whole bike in frame but he was too fast for me! but the result is not too bad.

I've updated the image, but I've used a 16:9 aspect ratio, a bit taller than your suggestion, but I think it still works.

    Thanks mate, Tony

I like your idea, I've cropped and updated the image to your suggestion.

I need to get over my phobia on heavy cropping with 6mp images :)

    Cheers mate,

    Tony
