You should try shooting in manual mode or at least aperture priority... this was shot at 1/800s on shutter speed priority, which also caused the ISO to go up to 1000. You want to keep the ISO as low as possible to get more sharpness. A smaller aperture would have given you more dof. It seems also that the focus is not where it should be... manual focusing is vital in macro photography.  Hope this is helpful, keep on shooting!!

It would have been a great shot... I cannot get past the bright outline around the bird... Makes it look like a cutout that was pasted... Probably due to the oversharpening...
