Hi,
As per the link provided by Helen Oster, i see NONE of the seller is TAMRON dealer. Sounds fishy

HI,
I have one question on Tamron 24-70 2.8 pricing. Amazon is offering this lens at around 990 USD by third party seller which is approx 300 USD cheaper than BH and Adorama.
I observed one thing that at one point it is available with only one third party seller at single time of the day. I checked the lens three different times of the day and i found only one listing with seller 1 then after some time i saw listing by seller 2 then seller 3 but not at the same time all three sellers are listed?
Is it grey market product? i wrote question to seller but i didn't get the reply. with this lens we have quality issues and in case we get bad copy we may want to replace it and the seller may charge restocking fee. Amazon is not offering directly.

Any idea?

Thanks for your suggestions. Well just to clarify
1. I do not wish to sell D800 because of the dynamic range and the size i print.
http://500px.com/photo/29917507
2. I am not keeping the cheap lens for long(next purchase is 24-70) and my main lens is 14-24 most of the time.
Now the purpose of this question was:
At times i get confused to use D800 DX mode or D5000. What i understand is 35 mm 1.8 is usable in 1.2 X crop(with some corner performance issue but again depend on subject).

Thanks for your reply.
Can i assume it is at least as good as D7000. Yes lenses are in my priority and will get one by one due to cost involved.

Costco does that In house and results are very good. I did with NPS and some local pro labs. Costco holds a very good quality.

Hi,
I have a question on using Nikon D800 in DX format.
I switched to Nikon D800 after using Nikon D5000 for almost 3 years as upgrade. So far i do not have lenses to support all focal lengths to use on Nikon D800.
i have Nikon 14-24 FX,85 1.8 FX, 35 MM 1.8 DX, Tamron 17-50 2.8 DX, Nikon 55-200.
With all my lenses you can see that i have to come to crop sensor for certain focal lengths(for now) so which one i should use Nikon D800 in DX (16 MP) or D 5000 (12 MP).
I am confused that 16 MP with Small photosites will be better or 12 MP with Bigger photosites (i am assuming).
Any productive and related to above situation, answers are appreciated.
Regards.

Thanks for the quick and helpful responses. i appreciate it.

Michael - Thanks for sharing manual.
Shun - I already use Olympus OM-4(I know film is costly in terms of processing and roll but i am still not convinced to use film simulation software). Its just i wanted to add Auto-focus in my film cameras and use my existing Nikkor G lenses.

Hi,
I have Nikon D800 and couple of new lenses. I want buy N80 SLR for film coverage but not sure if that works (AF/Exposure/Aperture) with New G lenses. I am more interested to use with my Nikon 85 mm 1.8 G lens.
Any help or experience is appreciated.(I know F100 is better but lets stick to N80).

Joe casey, Peter lik extensively used Canon 5D mark 2, Linhof 617, phaseone and hasselblad. He is doing more post processing work then you think. So he is now fully digital(almost) and he never had problem with Canon 5Dmark2.
Most people shifted from 4X5 to 35 mm others who could afford moved to digital medium format. Why not keep both formats.
If yo are not satisfied with Canon you will not see drastic change in Nikon too(i am nikon shooter by the way).so why not have film medium format (mamiya RZ Pro from keh in 600 USD whole kit) and keep 5d Mark 2 for some time.Try this combo for 1-2 months and then take decision.

oops i just notices you sold canon..all the best with Fuji 617 its fantastic

Fully automatic with Om2n

Hi All,
I am new to Film and OM system, I got T32 flash and Om4. The problem i am facing is when flash is attached and set to Automatic my shutter speed remain same as it was without flash. Is there anything wrong because as i read OM4 should make it to 1/60th of second in case shutter speed is slower.

Many Thakns,

I am digital shooter and recently got OM4 from keh.com. It is delight to use this camera with such controls like Spot meter/multiple spot metring option.
But this is expensive will be 200 USD and above(body only). It is upto you how much you want to spend if you can and want more better looking then go for OM4 Ti.

Check KEH.com. they are the number one seller in old cameras and they have good repair lineup too.

Hi All,
I am starting film after digital(which i will continue to shoot) and could not find and good lab. i heard Calypso and west Coast Imaging but Calypso is closed and WCI no longer into film.
Can you please recommend some labs (for slide, negative B&W)where i can get film processed/printed/scanned. I may want to print them digitally as well Traditionally.
Any reference to optical lab will also help. Please share your experience as some lab might be good in B&W but not in slides.

Many Thanks,

Hi,

I was checking for 2 lenses one is Sigma 17-50 2.8 and Tamaron 17-50 2.8 (Without vibration control) and i heard that tamaron is the best value for the money. I also heard that tamaron's performance in corner within 17-35 mm wide open is best. But there is only one flaw that is with AF and Darwin Wigett (on canon) shows that for AF it is not winner.
http://darwinwiggett.wordpress.com/2011/05/09/sigma-17-50mm-f2-8-vs-canon-17-55mm-f2-8-and-tamron-17-50mm-f2-8/

Next is Sigma which is almost same but slightly soft corner but after 2 stops it is same. well my aperture range will be F8 when i want corner performance and 2.8 when i want bokeh where corner performance will not matter.
Now i have few questions
1) its filter thread is 77 mm, Will cokin P(singh ray actually) GND and reverse GND series filter will cover this size without vignetting.
2) Front element does/does not rotate with AF and MF?
Currently i use nikon 18-55 mm kit lens and i always use tripod and cable release for sharpness but still after magnifying at 100% i do see some softness may be due to focusing issue. But i dont see that thing with my sigma 10-20 mm lens at 100%.
I want to replace 18-55 Nikon; primarily to use GND filters, distance scale so that at night i can focus at infinity (i cant do MF on 18-55 at night because sometimes i cant see in dark), 2.8 aperture at 50 mm to use on portrait(i am expecting baby this month).

Please correct me if my assumptions are not right or i am mistakenly assuming.Somebody who used sigma 17-50 2.8 share their experience. The only reason over Tamaron is AF and VR.

Regards,
Sunil

HI All,
I am sure here some of the folks are still using film cameras in addition to their digital ones. I am looking for advice on auto focus camera which i can use for B&W photography and portraiture. Please also suggest if image rendering may be different than AE1 Program or older camera bodies.(i know it is film dependent but still..)
I have Nikon Dx slr and i am switching to Canon 5D Mark 3(when it will launch), i am thinking to get EOS body so that i can use the same set of lenses.

Many Thanks,

IN USA you can get close to CIBACHROME, Fuji Super gloss paper with RA4 chemistry(inkjet is also available but i like RA4 chromira chemistry), it has a polyester base and it gets three dimensional look to it.
West Coast imaging and Aspen creek are two labs i know are the best. West coast charge premium and Aspen creek is their economy division but they are equally good.
Top photographer use this and in galleries you will see this paper.
