I just won the Leica 90mm Elmar f4 screw mount lens on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7501912246
It's probably a pre-war uncoated lens. Does anybody have any
experience with this lens? If there's any sample photo, can you post
it?
-
Thank you everybody. I'll try with R3A and see how it works. By the
way, I don't have neither the Noct and R3A yet.
-
I didn't do it.
-
Trevor,
Your photos always look crystal clear. How do you process it
(meaning scanner and photoshop)? Which lens and film did you use for
these photos? 50mm summicron?
-
I love the photos taken by Noctilux at F1.0. I'm thinking about
getting the Noct for my CV Bessa R3A. Do they work with no problem
in focusing etc.?
-
Dolly Parton "9 to 5".
-
Barry,
Your photos look great! Which lens did you use? I think it's
definitely Leica.
-
Simon,
Thank you for clariying the Elmarit version. That's exactly what I
thought. A photo like yours make me want to get Leica lens. Clarity
and contrast is superb. It's something you can't tweak on Photoshop.
The image has to be shot with the particular lens. I can definitly
see Leica quality in your cat photo even though it's a small photo on
the web.
-
Simon,
Your cat photo looks really good. Is it the latest 90mm Elmarit or
older version?
-
This is becoming a "CAT PHOTO" thread. I am allergic to cats. No
allergy pills work for cat allergy.

This Japanese site posts so many photos taken with Epson RD-1 digital
rangefinder camera with Leica and many other different lenses. Photo
quality is very good.

I just pulled out the lens from my CM. I'm trying to mount this on
my Bessa, but having a hard time with it. How can I do this?
-
Gerald Lehrer,
But, how do I mount the Summarit lens on minilux/cm to the M camera?
Do I have to pull out the lens and tape it on the M?
-
Anybody any idea? These lenses are 25-30 years apart. Is it
possible that Summarit (Minilux/CM) is better?
-
I decided to go with the Summicron-C for the look and Color.
-
-
Did anybody compare them or have any idea which is better?
-
To Rob F.,
I agree with your original response totally.
"As much as we fuss about the virtues of our lenses, ad the
differences among their signatures, it seems paradoxical that some
folks get upset when asked to recognize any of them. It seems like a
good exercise in sharpening our knowledge and observation skills."
-
Correction. SUMMARIT not Sumarrit.
-
I forgot to mention. It's a LEICA CM point&shoot camera w/40mm
Sumarrit.
-
I just got back home from work. Thank you everybody for overwhelming
response. I'm sorry for making some people very angry, upset and
disgusted. Les Lammers and Trevor Hare got it right. Those are
taken with Sumarrit 40mm f/2.4 at f/2.4 on Provia 100. I just got
the scanner yesterday. Those are scanned by Nikon Coolscan V ED,
"saved for web" on Photoshop, but no color/contrast correction or
filtering. This is my first Leica camera and I think it's well worth
the $899 price. Trevor's photos shows true potential of this camera.
I thought Andy's photo was taken by digital camera because I thought
the image is a little bit flat although it's a very nice shot. I
think Leica lenses have great clarity and contrast, photos look more
dynammic and real than other lenses. That's my opinion.

Film is Provia 100. Scanner is Nikon Coolscan V ED. No filter in
photoshop.

Leica 90mm Elmar f4 screw mount lens (uncoated?)
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
Victor's photo looks great. I'm glad I got this lens. I eventually
want to get the Noctilux, so I want to save money on other lenses. I
thought about buying the latest 90mm f2.8 elmarit on ebay for about
$700, but after intensive research, I found about this old gem. For
about $110, it's a great deal.
