I like the juxtapositioning of the simple shapes and textures. This picture has an elegance and "calming" quality that I greatly appreciate! Fine work.

I love the sense of serene/dramatic isolation it portrays. Well-composed.

I think cropping this photo to a square would be a terrible mistake; it subtracts from the visual interest. However, I agree that some cropping would help to emphasize the more visually informative and interesting aspects of it. I tried out a few crops, and even found a "vertical crop" (height > width) that worked well.
I'm not sure this image has a perfect crop; I think some images do and some don't. In any case, you've got a great photo to work with; and without that, this discussion would have been over a while ago..;)
