1.
Singles may (also may not) often be more open to interpretation than a series. A photo surely can have different meaning for different people. Isn't that what critics are for, to argue the meaning of this, that, the subtext etc..:)

 2.
To clarify my eating rudeness comment:

I meant it is rude to take photo of people in the act of masticating, or chewing. I didn't mean don't take photographs over a dinner, a meal (take out or not). To explain further...it's akin to taking and then posting portraitures with the subject eyes closed, or the subject's eyes blinking. Those photos are not flattering i.e. ugly

If you disagree, have your subject(s) chew gum, or close or blink their eyes while taking their portraiture.

.
 3.
Funny tim, I got a few keepers of club going (out of their mind) drunk gals peeing on the sidewalk. But never of people stuffing their mouths:)

 4.
Photographs of people eating/chewing are rude, especially by a stranger with a long lens. Ask if you yourself like to be photographed while stuffing your mouth? It's common courtesy, and the portrait/photograph will almost never be good...

 5.
>>>Subject and photographer had agreed on having the police sort it out and called them but the attackers arrived earlier.<<<

A seasoned street shooter or pj would have diffused the situation way before the police was called.

 6.
Was he being sneaky or deceptive when he made the shots? He was a PJ, which would even made it easier for him to be upfront, if he wanted to. It seems like he himself made it confrontational, by stating his legal photographic rights blah blah blah...Great camera wasted nevertheless.

 7.
Probably not an astute PJ. It seems like the situation would have been easy to diffuse...

 8. If i were to get a couple of small cameras for travel, i'd probably go with a panasonic LX100 and a Sony RX100 version iii or iv. Fwiw, i dont shoot lenses over 85mm (in 135 term). If i were to shoot long lenses, i would probably go for micro4/3rd as well. They are the perfect compromise between size/weight and quality imo.
 9.
Someone correct me if i'm wrong...the T4, which I had for a short time back in the days. The lcd was always on and the shutter lag was super looong. The zero indicates that there's no film in it, correct? Anyhow, have fun with it, f4 and the long lag drove me nuts...the lens was fantastic, if you got the shot though...

 10.
I tend to agree with Allen H. However, people are going to vote/voice with their money. Think McCurry a fraud (for instance), stop buying his photos, or praising him. There is a fine line for everyone and the fine line surely is different for different folks...

 11.
When art critics say they are...usually years after their "revolutionary" work. Personally, I think we ought to decide for ourselves what/who is revolutionary...

 12.
Agree 1: Most of us will not become known.

Agree 2: Create something that means something (to you).

Agree 3: Push yourself to go further.

Don't agree: It is a not popularity contest...it is, sadly.

Made it to ~5 min mark

 13.
An inexpensive secondhand smartphone, around $200-250 would do. Handy wifi capability, decent video/photo macro range for basic documentation. Samsung s5, Apple 5s, LG g3 among others.

 14.
Steve, it would be interesting to know the differences between the book and the show. For instance, the personalities and looks from the book compared to the show. I myself never read the books. The main characters that interest me most (from HBO) are Tyrion Lannister, Jaime Lannister and Daenerys Targaryen. But I'm sure the actor/actress plays a part (maybe a rather large part) of my liking. I read that Daenerys looks quite different in the book, and I admit that I like her, at least, partially because of her physique. And on the contrary, I probably would find some I like better in the book...little finger and the hound come to mind.

The one major flaw for me is the numerous characters. I must like some that I already forgotten. And the faceless tower/Arya Stark side plot is sub par for me.

 15.
Cheaper 12mm f2 and 17mm f1.8 would be fine...

 16.
Not sure if you have done river markets before, but light become harsh after like 8:30am until almost sun down. I have done a few in Myanmar and Thailand. Harsh light and too many people (tourist included) in the frame were two main (big) problems. Get there early. Best carrying them lenses...

 17.
The claustrophobic chaotic editing shot from the bottom (Jon Snow's POV) looking up was headache inducing. Many great sequences...Jon vs the calvary of approaching horses, the helicopter(?) shot of the army encircling the smaller pack of fighters, the hill like piles of dead bodies etc...

The drama was top notched, yet it was mostly action (not many words) sequences tied up damn well. The editing must have been rough, ordering the madden chaos...

...And I usually HATE fantasy and period pieces!

 18.
Any Game of Thrones fans here? The camera works on the epic (battle of the bastards) episode was epic, to say the least.
There were all types of shots, from wide to tele, from handheld to remote camera control vehicle, and almost no digital enhancement (unless needed). One of the most epic scene ever filmed, TV or cinema...

http://screenprism.com/insights/article/how-did-game-of-thrones-battle-of-the-bastards-reflect-its-combatants-and-w

If you are not a fan, see this particular episode (season 6 episode 9) nonetheless, just for the camera works, highly recommended...

 19.
d700: no need watching people using live view out on a sunny day:)

 20.
If it were not so, so difficult...perhaps pandora, spotify and the likes would have already created the perfect "like" algorithm?

it's visceral/emotional...*irrational*, we are not computational/robots!

 21.
I think that between personal taste, aesthetic's vague definitions, cultural differences, generational differences, subjective experience differences etc...it's absurd to explain, or describe verbally our feelings/thoughts on a web forum. That is *my* opinion. Don't let my opinion stop anyone else from participation from this thread;)

 22.
This thread is similar to me attempting to explain Kierkegaard to sister. Or, explaining the hayflick limit to my great aunt. Fred: When I wrote my (mai) pen rai, I was thinking what will be, will be...

The absurdity of attempting to explain, say, why Trump is actually more left on a few issues to HRC, to my friends/asscoiate on the left.

 23.
Why not bring the 2 or 3 lenses you use most often?

 24.
Well...why do you need to know why do we like what we like then?
