1.
I use lightscribe and put my own spin on my packaging...
In the pocketfolds is the printing release matted and then inside I put in 2-3 4x6 prints (so that they can see the difference between professional printing and walmart!) Oh, and a thank you card.

00Xp4J-309673584.jpg.7ac4412f227bd8cdb7c05b4f3774919d.jpg

 2.
Thank you so much for all of the feedback. I really appreciate it. So from what I'm gathering, it is definitely worth it to get the Nero program. I have Nero for lightscribe software and it looks like I can upgrade for about $50.

Is this what you are suggesting and to not use the default program on windows? Price is not a problem, I just never want to deal with this issue again!

Also, the client said that she tried it on her mother's computer and they were able to view the low resolution files, but not the high resolution. From this thread, I've also took that I should shorten the name of the folders - like to "high" and "low".

 3.
Thanks for the feedback... I really appreciate it.

Matt - Sorry about the confusion. By CD, I meant disk. File format is jpgs. That's a really good idea to email them the images. I'll be sure to do that!

Brooks - my computer is pretty new, I think it's Windows 7. I use light room and then export the high resolution images to a new folder. Then I convert the high resolution folder to a low resolution folder, just a batch conversion. Then I select both folders and click "burn" from the top task bar and then burn the disk. After I check it on my computer to make sure it's burned correctly, I make the lightscribe label.

I have an older laptop that I use to check the cd again too. Like I said, I've never had this issue before. I really appreciate your responses. I have to admit Brooks that I don't know how to burn it to ISO standard. I'll do some research on that and try that. I'll also shorted the directory names. Like I said, the folder names are "high resolution" and "low resolution."

 4.
I would give them for free. I'm very active on a forum that is specific to the wedding industry and although it's not expected, it is very appreciated when a photographer does this. Vail, if you don't give her the photos, she'll get them from the next photograper that she works with... and where is her referrals going to go? It won't be you.

I respect William's suggestion about the coffee meeting, but in reality, a lot of photographers might not have the time to meet with every single vendor that they come in contact with at each wedding - especially during wedding season! A suggestion I would give would be to maybe hit them up during the off season to meet. "Remember me from so and so's wedding... I gave you those images... was wondering if you would like to meet up for coffee..."

Just my .02 :)

 5.
Greetings!

I recently gave a client a DVD of a child photography session and she is having issues viewing the cd on her computer. I always check the cd on my computer after I burn it and before I sent it to her, I could view it just fine on my computer.

I ran over another one (she's in town), but before I did, I checked the disk on both my computer and my laptop. No issues. She just emailed me and let me know that she still couldn't view them. They tried different cds in their house and there is no problems.

I include two folders - High Resolution and Low Resolution images. I use DVD-R disks 16x (lightscribed).

Can anyone give me any insight as to what is going on? She did say that they are coming up on their computer as re-writable... which when I do burn them, I do NOT choose that option.

I've given over 40 DVD's since I bought my new computer (HP) and this is the first issue that I've come up with and I obviously would like to get it resolved!

Also, I know that this person is not just lying to get more cd's... she's a friend.

Thanks in advance... and Happy Thanksgiving :)

 6.
So the only reason why you are going with a Sony is because of the small amount of pixel difference?!? The reason why you couldn't tell a difference on your monitor is because there isn't a difference (relatively speaking). I'm with the others - I wouldn't spend that much money on a camera when you have never owned one before. What if you don't like it? What if you don't end up liking photography as much as you thought you did?
I haven't read your other post, but has anyone recommended a higher end rebel? The T1i and T2i are amazing little beasts. I had a T1i before I upgraded and still use it because I really like it (it's also my wedding backup).
From a practical standpoint, if you get a less expensive camera and after a while, you still really like photography, upgrade! Keep the starter camera as a backup.

 7.
I receive probably 75% of my business from my FB fanpage. I'm pretty active on it and update it constantly with teaser pics and different promos. It's a GREAT tool for networking and most everyone and their dad's brother's mailman is on FB. My clients are thrilled when I post teaser pics, which results in them forwarding it to their friends and family. I do WM all my photos too...

 8.
I'm going to purchase Lightscribe - it's a really good deal at office max plus an additional 20% off when you buy online. HERE is the link. Maybe this is a dumb question, but I've looked and couldn't find: does it come with it's own software or do I need to purchase something additional?

Thanks!

 9.
I would have to agree with the pp that suggested to go out and scout the location. I have two weddings coming up next summer 6 hours away from me and you will be darn sure that I'm going to go out and scout the location. Do you know the bride and groom? Are they friends? The reason I am asking is because I would find it unprofessional and strange if my wedding photographer asked me to send them pictures of the front of my house. 2 or 3 hours is not THAT far away. On the other hand, if you know the couple well, to ask them to send pictures would be a little less intrusive. Since the rude card has been brought up, I'll note that my comment is not meant to be rude or insulting, just my opinion :)

 10.
I'll have to second (or third...) that Tamron 17-50. I recently bought it at the advice of Nadine and William and have not been disappointed. I shoot with a 7D and have the T1i as a backup. I love it on both cameras.

 11.
I think it's a great idea and I personally love the idea!

Not every bride and groom is on a cheap budget. Yes, if they are in this category, they certainly could go out and purchase an ipad on their own but for whatever reason choose not to.

If my photographer for my own personal wedding would have offered this, I would have / if not SERIOUSLY would have thought about it. My thinking is this: "OMG how flipping cool! I've always wanted an ipad!!1!1!"

FWIW, I just asked my office at work if they would be interested and the overall response (12 people) was "cool!!"
