1.
Greetings!
I'm sorry if this is not the right forum to post this on... I was kind of stuck as to where it should go.

I need to tranfer a zip file to a magazine publisher via ftp. They gave me the ip address, their id and password. I thought I know how to do this but it has been many many years since I've done this and I just realized that I completely forgot how to do this.
I thought I would post it here before emailing the art director.
Thanks in advance!

 2.
I love taking that extra time and photographing all of the detail shots... take the dress outside, get creative. I take the opportunity to chat with the bride and the bridesmaids. It gets them more comfortable with you with equals better pictures. Use it to your advantage. I love the extra time in the mornings!

 3.
Wow, um, yeah, I agree with Senor. It's no better than the fuzzy 80's glow or the selective color everything. Some people love it, some people hate it. I get requests for this type of coloring a lot - more of a vintage effect. A lot of it is getting it right in camera and utilizing the sun to your advantage. In other words, these images can take a lot of time and effort - not just slamming an action on it.

Meh.

So I would rather shoot two $1K weddings with no prints to make $2K rather than shooting a $2K wedding and having to sell prints and albums. You end up making $2K one way or another.

... um, you are doing TWICE the work. :/

 5.
I just got done reading your thread over on another photography forum - the same post and it looks like it was your first time ever posting over there too. To echo Bob, I do hope that you are insured along with a good liability policy... regardless if you are looking to make money or not, you should be insured!

 6.
I go through this at the time of my consults. I explain everything that you went through in your original post... then I show them a book that I put together which has 5x7 examples of
1. My calibrated lab professional print
2. Walgreens
3. Walmart
4. Target

Works like a charm!

 7.
I wouldn't trade in my Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS II for the world. I shoot a lot of long dark churches too. For those types of weddings, I just don't think a prime would work (this is for my shooting style). Those dark Catholic weddings = me being as small and unintrusive as possible. A prime and me zooming with my feet would be a receipe for disaster! :O

I've had the opportunity to use both lenses, the IS and without IS and without question, the IS is worth it's weight in pure gold. There is a reason it's so much more expensive.

Just my opinion :)

 8.
Dennis would you REALLY tell a client that it is a self indulgent and ill advised idea? Wow. It's not my business what people want to do with their images. As the previous person stated, many give gifts to grandparents and the such. I had a client do this for her husband, who was overseas in Iraq. Don't be so quick to judge because the only person being judged, badly, will be you.

 9.
I schedule my engagement shoots a few days to a few weeks out. If they want to wait several months for the engagement shoot, we wait and schedule it until about a month out. (I just say, "let's wait to schedule a definite date and time so we can check the weather...") The chance of me scheduling a last minute wedding are pretty small and if that did happen, I would just call the couple and be honest. Most of my clients, if not all, are really pretty understanding!
