Doesn't look like this has been flagged on this forum yet. But here's a Dow Jones report
confirming that Leica is working on a digital M.

Roland,

Simply amazing work there. The picture on top of this page is just wonderful. I hope to
produce work like this someday. I have one suggestion though -- the folder will benefit
from a little editing. Tighten it up a little; drop the photos that are weak and don't help to
carry the story.

Nicholas, what's the filer size on this lens?

I'm looking for peoples' opinions of the Hexanon 21/35 combo lens. Has anyone used
it? I'm thinking of getting one as my main travel lens... and to supplement it with a
fast 35mm or something. Any thoughts?
-
While this doesn't answer your question directly, you should probably also consider a
Voigtlander 21mm. It's a better tool for people pictures, IMHO.

Here's a folder that contains a lot of 21mm shots... have a look:

Hi everyone, I've just returned from Amman and I've finally got my pictures online.
M6, Voigtlander 21mm, Hexanon 50mm. Let me know what you think... here's the
link.

Good work there! I love your use of light -- or lack of. The pictures made me smile.
I'd like to see more. One suggestion -- consider adding captions... that will help put
the pictures in context. What HTML editor did you use to create the gallery?

These are great cameras. As noted, the viewfinder isn't anything to write home about.
But the body is solid and very durable. It also has a hinged back, which is a huge plus.
The thumb winder is great -- very smooth. I love these cameras. I wouldn't be too
concerned about the lack of meter. I use a handheld Sekonic with mine.

A beautiful lens. Great out of focus rendering. It's got "personality". I have not
compared it to Leica's offerings, but I'm well impressed by it.
-
Have a look at my images made in Istanbul. 90% of them was done on the VC 21mm,
mounted on an M6.
-
Amazing shot Beau. Is that one "swappable"? (See earlier posts on swapping prints)
-
Beautiful.

Thanks for the constructive comments all round. To answer the question on the exposure in the textiles shop, it was probably 1/30 at f/4.
The 21mm is a great little lens. The best part of it is that you can include a bystander in the shot without him/her even knowing it. But yes, it does make vertical lines a little curvy.
-
We should have a little checkbox at the bottom of our gallery pics that say "Swappable". That would be an indication of whether the photographer is a part of this covert little circle.
I'm more interested in prints themselves, instead of digital files. Part of the art is to have a person dodge and burn a piece of photo paper until it suits their eyes. With a digital file, we'd have to deal with profiles and other calibration elements. Yuck.
-
Nope, no cropping done. I left the film corners just as they are.
-
A great idea. There are a number of photos I see here that I would love to own!
-
Thanks for the kind comments. Yeah, the big border's gone... takes up too much
screen real estate.
-
Thanks for that William!

Hi all, I've finally finished uploading selected photos from my week in Istanbul. Have a
look. Most were taken on an M6 with Voiglander's 21mm lens. There are a few Hexar
shots in there too! :-)

Sorry, I couldn't figure out how to make it clickable! Let me know what you think.

I have the Leica grip. It's handy -- it makes it easier to wind the camera with one
hand. The only problem I have with it is that it's plastic. It makes the M6 feel cheap as
it takes it away from the solid feel of the camera.

Leica's announced a digital back for the R8 and R9. A joint effort with Imacon. Details
in DP Review.

The weather will be your biggest challenge. It was overcast and hazy when I was
there. I shot both slides and B&W. Nothing stunning. If you're shooting color, consider
packing color filters. Otherwise you're looking at a pretty grey picture. Enjoy.
