Partially influenced by the genius works of Piet Mondrian - even though I would, of

course, never dare to claim to get even nearly close to his artistic masterpieces...

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

    Hi Su,

I'm really attracted by the shape of the tower. You found a very good angle to take the picture. However, the windows and perspective distortion distract me. Hope you don't mind I heavily cropped the original ...

I agree with Christoph: Too much of post-processing for my taste, too.

On the other hand, I really like the composition. Apart from the aforementioned paintshopping, this is a great environmental portrait!

    Gail,

first of all: Thank you for leaving a comment. Glad to see you like it.

Algorithmic art is about creating art using formulas and computers instead of a camera or a paint-brush. Algorithmic Art - at least this one - emanates from purely computational means. It usually comes along with a lot of programming effort. ;-)

This is the first output of what could one day become a little series about a more

    organic approach towards algoithmic art.

I'm Curious to find out what you think about it. Looking forward to your honest critiques.

:-) Thanks for you interest! Alex

Excellent image, Rick! Very appealing pattern and color. Especially like the two "suns", they kind of add more context. 7

  1. Hi Rick,

yet simple, this is an eye-catcher. Great play with different layers (sharp / burred / totally blurred). I am especially attracted by the composition/crop. Very good work!

    Happy new year 2014!

    Alex

  2. Just discovered this in the "More Photos by Member" section. Amazing shot! I really like the composition and the blue / metallic color cast. Just like in your recent work "Card game, Havana, Cuba", I noticed that here again you used natural architecture as framing elements.

The arriving / departing blurred train turns this really nice shot into something remarkable.

    Alex

    KENT:

    Thanks for your kind feedback!

    RICK:

Thank you for stopping by. I'm glad you like my appoach towards algorithmic art. Now looking forward to your next upload.

  3. Definitely an eye-catcher. The image has a lot of depth, the angle you chose relative to the street is perfect. Background and foreground and connected by different tones of reds, and the arc does a great framing.

Just on question: The card players seem to appear a little too sharp. Is this a montage?

    Best regards,

    Alex

  4. Hi Rick,

very nice result. At first glance, it seemed to me that this picture is symmetric (rotation by 180° around the image center). However, looking closer, this turned out not to be the case. Very subtle structure! Nice colors and great detail.

    Best regards,

    Alex

PS: Sorry for using this as a platform, but since we obviously share interest in this kind of art; may I kindly invite you to check some of the abstracts in my portfolio?
