I think the composition here is very clever and effective. Too bad mother nature didn't reward you with a more dramatic sky. As it is, however, I like the photo very much. Thanks for sharing.

I'm kind of proud of this image because this is one of the first times I pre-visualized an image and them made it happen pretty much as I had imagined it. I wanted the figures of Sacco & Vanzetti in the mural to be sharp and well-defined, while the actual person in the photo appears ghostly and insubstantial due to the length of exposure time. I set up my tripod and shot a roll at various shutter speeds while people passed in front of the mural over the course of an hour or so. I was trying to place the passer-by in the right hand side of the frame over the area where the figures' shadows fall. I shot velvia to make the mural's colors more vibrant.
I had a great time with this little project.

looks like he just had a big bite of Hagis!
Beautiful cat nicely isolated via DOF.

Is she flipping us the bird?? Dark angel indeed.

Its beautiful, with lots of areas of interest (fg, middle, and bg). I like it very much.

Rascals! Gotta love those cats. Your photo captures something any cat owner will instantly recognize. Thanks for sharing,

It's a cheetah: the givaway is the teardrop markings from the inner eye around the muzzle.
Beautiful cat.

very appealing, although I couldn't tell you why exactly. I just like it. Thanks for sharing this.

This is where little fighter planes come from.
Congratulations on capturing their rarely seen mating ritual.

I appreciate this on several levels: (1) gotta love those cats; (2) justaposition of play/rest captures something of the essence of these critters; (3) evokes different textures and tactile feeling of hemp/fur; (4) almost monochromatic quality of 80% of frame is broken by colors on cat's face, adding to the highlighting effect of the lighting. This is a great cat pic; congratulations.

Very evocative. I can almost hear menacing footsteps behind me.

I like it too.

Great collection of furballs well composed. (How'd you get all of them to look at you?; I can't even do that with one cat as a subject).

Kinder, gentler razor wire: I really like this. Well spotted.

I like the way you singled out the girl and her relationship to the wall (despite the fact that she is in a crowd).

I like this very much, and for the same kinds of reasons you describe in your blurb. It's also an interesting specimen of motor vehice: never heard of a Commer. curious.

Yes, my spelling is poor, especially when I'm typing quickly. As for the mural photo, if you look more carefully you may notice a human form in motion on the right side: I carefully set this up to juxtapose S&V sharp and clear and a real human looking ghostly and insubstantial. It may not be especially well executed (I'm learning), but it was carefully thought out and had a creative idea behind it.
BTW: saying that your photo wasn't "political" strikes me as a cop-out. If this isn't political, what is?

Not likely to strike a positive chord with anyone who is not already a cheerleader for the home team. And a tired old cliche to boot (perhaps somewhat like American power itself, although I doubt such an ironic interpretation was the intent here). Shouldn't we try to exercise our creativity in our photography rather than reproduce official propaganda?

The photo is very appealing, but the frame distracts and detracts.
