Looks to me like a velbon quick release plate and tripod. Had a few that I used for umbrella stands. Couldn't use in the
field with telephoto lens. Kind of a cool tripod though. Liked the geared center post

Thanks, Shun. I will soon be joining you with a D7100

Ok, I give up. Did I miss Shun's review of the D7100. I am waiting to pull the trigger but I was awaiting his review.

I have been using Bay Photo with the Roes system for years am very pleased with the process. It does take a little trial and error but that is taken care of before the actual sending to Bay Photo. A lot of options available.

studio work
in Nikon

I have found the EyeFi card to be terribly slow if transferring large files. I have found that a usb cable attached to a portable dvd player or laptop works great. No software involved.
-

Another great Wednesday. Doug Santo - Great hummingbird. I imagine Shun's hummingbird was good too. .)
Every week it is like perusing through an art gallery. Keep up the good work.
Last weekend some tall ships visited Bodega Bay, CA to commemorate the settling of Fort Ross by the Russians in the early 1800's. This is a shot of the Lady Washington.

Haven't had experience with the vrI but had a tamron 70-200. Took it back a few months later and ponied up for the vrII. What a magnificent lens. No comparison to the tamron. I have taken handhelds as low as 1/15 with excellent results. One has to keep the shutterbutton 1/2 down and let the lens go to work. Shun is right, however, as this does not work every time. One of the better lens made by Nikon. Worth every penny, and there were a lot of them.

Ann Overland : You are very close. It is a '53 Coronet. They all used the same hood ornament. Fortunately, I can still remember when they were new. ( :)
Great shots again this week everybody. Rick Dohme, were you on a ladder or something?
I learn something every week. Thanks

Great photographs again. Jeannean, another crisp, bright photo. Are there a lot of insects where you live?
Joe Elrod: very crisp photo. Doug Santo, great hummingbird shot. Rick Dohme: wow!
This is a photo of the Pigeon Point Lighthouse near Half Moon Bay. Taken in the pre-dawn

On Monday took a trip to Ano Nuevo State Park to photograph Elephant Seals. While being guided by the ranger, an Alpha male started clearing the beach of younger upstarts and the next thing we knew, they were within 15-20 feet of us. This caused a lot of excitement with the rangers and the photographers had a field day. Someone said it was like an E ticket at Disneyland. (Pleeez don't make me explain what an E ticket is!)

Another great week of photos. They all pop out!
I was drawn to George Allred's Basilica. Thought it was some kind of macro at first.
Jeannean: Great twin herons
Paula Wang: Great shot of the falls
Tom Serio: great light catch
Thanks Jeannean, Karissa and John P. for your kind comments last week.
Last week I was able to photograph the autumn colors of the Santa Rosa Train Depot. It was early in the morning and later that day the "Big" windstorm hit California and the leaves are no more.
