1.
Hi everbody,
Chris, wonderful closeup, really amazing sharpness, are you working for nikon and trying to make us buy that lens or what, haha
This week I will try a portrait, I really liked ton's B/W one of last week, so I thought I would try one as well. This one worked out better for me in color because of the guys golden shades. I hope you like it. We do have nice characters in the netherlands, haha. This was in eindhoven during a ballooning festival.
Taken with the D90, 80-200 @ F2.8, 135mm and 1/750s.

00U0Rv-157017584.jpg.48ebc96fa424a6fd02b0cc2103981fbe.jpg

 2.
Hi everybody,
Hope everyone is ok, here it is warm again.
Great portret again tom, where DO you find these characters. ;)
I went to a ballooning festival on sunday, but I haven't had time to select any of the pictures (just 600), so I have another picture from the zoo again.
This is my first official attempt to a little photoshopping, well, irfanview actually.
The edit is not great, I know, but it was more about the funny picture.
It is another bird, I'm starting to like those too lil. I liked the position and immediately thought of an orchestra director that is trying to get everybody to pay attention. Taken with the D90 and 80-200 @ 80mm, F2.8 1/2000s
Have another great WedNEsDAy EveRYbOdY!!

00TwIN-154759584.thumb.jpg.e2f86433806f4772b1ac410157ff96b5.jpg

 3.
Hi everybody,
I didn't even have time to comment the last two weeks, but I've seen some great pictures there.
A few weeks ago I ran into this guy and he was kind enough to pose for me, I think it's a yak.
Taken with the D90 + 80-200 @ F3.3 1/750s 200mm iso 200

00TsP2-152387584.jpg.0d752bf80a04078aa1b5986afcfc126c.jpg

This saturday I had a party with some friends and we went to the zoo. And that gives a problem: Which picture to choose, haha. There were soo many great photo opportunities, so it was great to practise. In the end I choose this one of a big bird that was posing for me. Taken with the D90 + old 80-200 F2.8 @ 200mm F2.8 1/3000s iso 200 some cropping. Hoping to see many great pictures today, aaaah, who am I kidding, they will all be, I'm sure. Taken with the D90 and the old 80-200mm F2.8 @2.8 200mm 1/3200 s iso 200

00TXwn-140455584.thumb.jpg.803ef75531289c030e38f586c061dd45.jpg

 12.
be careful to note the exact position of the helicoids when they come apart, because you will need the exact same position again later, also mark the infinity and closest distance positions.
I relubed a nikkor 105mm F2.5 once and a huge projector zoom lens with success.
But getting them back together can be stressy, so take your time and plenty of pictures.
Sometimes you will have trouble taking it apart, because they are assembled with rings that need special tools for (dis)assembly.

good luck, maybe you can post some pictures of the insides, maybe I will post a few too if people are interested.

 13.
Hi everybody, that was a long wednesday, haha

Per-Christian, does the seagull desktop help? haha
Ryan, Sasvata, Michael and lil, thanks you for the nice comments.
I really appreciate the comments people send, they really encourage me to contribute to this wonderful thread
Always looking forward to wednesday to see all the great pictures and comments.

A lot of pictures have been added since I posted, so I will (try) to give a short update on favourites:

hector, the colors blind me
Lil, you always have some fascinating birds
Anish, nice shot, great angle
Ian, I see more ghosts than just the ghostly hand
Ton, nice portret
benjamin, she looks happy
Dennis, how do you get a shot like that?
Eli, nice fire rings
Matthew, my top favourite, great shot
Dieter, there are some weird animals on this planet
Adey, yummy
Michael, FEED ME
John, nice kitty
Jeff, great shot, would have been nice to see even more car lights moving on the right side

See you all next wednesday

 17.
Regarding the flowers, i would be carefull selecting lenses.
I have an old 80-200mm and it's closest focus distance is around 1.5 meters.
It is also pretty heavy (1.3Kg), was shooting it last week for 5 hours and that is heavy.
For flowers the micro nikkor 105 is excellent, but expensive.

 18.
Hi all,
Taken with the D90 + 18-200mm. At 70mm F5.6, with flash.

 20.
Hi,
Jose, nice postcard, where was it taken?
Simon, nice closeup, is that compression a bit high or is it me?
Bernard, perfect moment

I love this thread, so many different people, countries and cultures. A real inspiration.
This week I have a picture of a car. It's an old Morgan that belongs to a
friend of the family. He visited us in the winter when it was a bit cold, but
he had the top off the car. With one of those old pilot hats on his head.
Picture was taken with the D90, nikon 18-200mm at 60mm F4.8 converted to B/W in Lightroom.
I hope you like it.

00TCjl-129439684.jpg.0e0e83bf488315e367f579f4611bf66d.jpg

 21.
I have the old one ring non D version of the 80-200 F2.8 and I really like the Image Quality.
But there is the issue of the tripod holder which this one does not have, making it a difficult lens for tripod use. I don't know if you often use the tripod. Some versions appear to have a bit of a wobbly tripod holder, there are also third party holders available that seem to be pretty good (but expensive).
The different versions can be easily found online under nikon 80-200mm history
Enjoy your new nikon equipment, i'm sure it won't disappoint.

 22.
Hi, everybody
nice pictures again this week.
Jose, I like the colors in the chairs, but the highlights are a bit harsh indeed
hector, nice colors over the mountains
gary, nice owl
Matthew, lovely colors around that church
Bruce, is that a HDR picture? or straight out of the camera?
Chris, nice!

Jose, I was trying out my 50mm-F1.4 AFS as well a few months ago when
we went to a pancake place in amsterdam with my niece.
Here they watch the arrival of the pancakes.

00T8rl-127381584.jpg.1ab8c4777326deb332445eb251b26df3.jpg

 23.
Hi,

Many new contributors this week, so I decided to join for the first time too.
Have been looking at the thread for some weeks now and really enjoy the pictures and stories.

I especially like some of the landscape pictures and wonder how they are made.

This weeks I like the following the most:

Jose Angel: untypical view, nice
ian Rance: Nice dark view with the fog there
Rene'Villela: nice colors and lights
Bruce Margolis: Love your moving shots from the last weeks, gives inspiration
gary McGhee: Like your shots (would like a filter like that)
Chris Court: Amazing
Hideyuki Miya: Too bad about the crash, nice picture though

I also like modern architecture a lot, but don't see many pictures of it in the thread.
Maybe I will add some of mine in the following weeks.
I have a lot of them, but most are taken with a Canon G7.

Now here is my shot: We had a nice party for my uncle last sunday.
It was near the water and I liked the view on this wooden pier.
Taken with D90 & AFS-50mm F1.4 @ F16 and a bit of tweaking in Lightroom.
