What I did was open John Seaman's link, hover over forums, click S&D. At the top left click on '424 Captures'.
Now it's slow going, with selecting a year, clicking the link in any day, and choosing from the various threads. Some are there, some are not. The good article on the M8 that I mentioned is in July, 30 of '08 in the right side menu. I had to open it and then refresh once or twice to get it to load correctly.

I tried to go find some of the old Leica and rangefinder a the early Street and Documentary forums to find some of the great photo threads, probably back 2006-10? But couldn't find any. <sigh>
Here's one from July, 2008. Not an S&D thread but a review of the Leica M8.
All the photos and member comments are intact.
(oops, the pasted link didn't come up right so I removed it)

I saw a video of a guy holding a geiger counter directly on the front element of one of the famous radioactive lenses: the Asahi Pentax Takumar 50/1.4.
When I held a Geiger counter on my Canon 35/2.0 concave, all the noise came from the rear element.

BNSF 1571 leading a 5 unit lash-up, pops into the late afternoon sun as it cants hard into the high speed curve west of Catoosa, Oklahoma.
The Fireman gives me the obligatory eye-ball to be sure that the only thing I'm shooting way out here is a camera. 9/14/1998, three years after the BN/SF merger.

The little Olympus XA2 just sings. Fujicolor C200, Bellini C41 home processed. And pretty proud of my scale focus / hyperfocal skills. 🙂
I have to agree that yours sings. Good work. Mine seems to just gurgle.
I have never been satisfied with the image focus of either of my two that I bought new in 1980 and 1988. How did you master hyperfocal skills when your only tools are: Mountains, Whole People, and Half People? The close up zone is very narrow and the other two are about the same. All three photos are exceptional, especially the first one. -
Well put #7. I’ve never thought of it that way, but you are quite right.

I was just worried that from the time that I mix / use the the developer to the time that I mix / use the fixer, the temp would probably raise roughly 5 to 7 degrees.
That is why Sandy recommended the plastic dishpan bath. You pour your diluted or stock solutions of dev, stop, and fixer, into their cylinders and place them into the tub with some tap water. Then add refrigerator water until the bath is maybe 66 deg. or so. Watch the dev. cylinder until it comes down to 68-70. Adjust with either water as necessary.
I was living in a warm temp house many years ago and had to do this also for a while.

Is that June Lockhart doing that commercial?
I don’t think so. At that time period I believe June was a little ‘longer in the tooth’ than that young model.

If Spot Tone is now Marshall's Spot-All, then you can find it at B&H.

Mine is P821 code and with split image / microprism focussing screen.
Great! Now if you just add your S/N to that info, you too can be a member of this 16 year old, Black Beauty thread Club. 😎
If you desire you can post it like this, 2793XX.

Yes, it was a long series of posts, I wasn’t sure. Technically it was made ‘74 to ‘78. But did we want to know the production run?
Well, I tried to delete that post because it really doesn’t matter any more, but it timed out in the middle of it.
Tim Witt was wanting to gather info on S/N, date of manufacture, and if yours had the newer focusing screen, in order to determine when that change occurred along with the number and date of the last one produced. The post above yours by Sheperd is like what he was after. It’s still a good read on a great camera!

An old Copal Square S shutter never fails. 😄
I got the shutter to work as intended. Initially the mirror stayed open and the shutter did not close. The closing blades were somehow stuck (like oily aperture blades). Probably someone had sprayed some sort of lubricant in the past.
Long story short. I gave the whole thing, shutter blades and the complete shutter mechanism a good rinse with cleaning solvent for electronic circuits (Kontakt 601) that leaves no residue and does not harm any materials. After that, the shutter fired again with no problems.
Only thing that does not work properly is the self timer. There are two tiny (very tiny) hair-springs that cock two small levers in this clockwork and those are missing. Does not affect the rest though. Anyone has a close up shot in high resolution of the shutter by any chance? Can´t find anything good on the net...
Thanks and stay tuned
Arno
Let’s not forget that the data requested by the OP several years ago is to nail down the production history of the EF. -

I don't either. I brought the lens to work with me and took it to the x-ray guys in my department.
The reading he got at the rear was in millirems (or converted to it) and then plugged that in to an exposure chart to see how dangerous it was. He said something like you would have to wear that camera and lens around your neck 24 hours a day for several months (or years?) before it would be a concern.
That was about 14 years ago, but I wrote down all the facts. If I find where I put that I'll report back here.
