1.
I've contacted the seller, will be sending me another battery.

I've been using no-name batteries in my many digital cameras since I started using them ten or so years ago. Only had one that wouldn't stay charged for very long, and that was after using it for a while. I imagine I've saved hundreds of dollars not buying overpriced OEM batteries.

  2.
I bought a used Samsung NX100 several months ago to use with my collection of Canon FD lenses. I always like to have a spare battery for my digital cameras, so I ordered one from an eBay seller in the U.S.; it is a clone made in China. Got it today, put it in the charger until the green light came on. Put it in the camera, and nothing. No power whatsoever. Put it on charge again, same results. Tested the voltage on the battery, 8.17 volts, so there is power in it. Thinking the battery contacts might not be touching those in the camera, I pushed it in while trying to power on the camera, still nothing. The camera powers up fine with the original battery.

Anyone have such a problem? Battery with voltage will not power up the camera? How can it be faulty? I've sent a note to the seller with the same info, hopefully they will send a replacement, but I would like to know what the problem could be.

Thanks!

  3.
I've got a Canon EOS M coming, and may order the adapter so I can use my EF lenses on the body. The adapter seems fairly thick, with all of the electrical contacts - will it affect the focal length of the EF lenses? Will my 50mm still give the view of the 50mm, or longer?
The same for my FD lenses, how will an adapter affect these?

Not really a problem, I'm just curious.

Thanks!

  4.
I have one of the original Canon 75-30mm IS zooms. I have a chance to buy a Canon 70-200mm f/4 zoom at a decent price. I'm still debating what I'd actually get out of the 70-200 - shorter zoom range, and a faster f/4 throughout the zoom range. My 75-300 goes from f/4 at 75mm to f/4.5 below 100 mm, then on down to f/5.6 at 300mm. It's at f/5 at 200mm. I know the 70-200 is probably a better lens and could produce in theory better quality images, but would it really make all that much difference in my photos? I shoot with a Canon T3i.

Thanks!

  5.
I picked up an AL-1 at a local flea market a couple of years ago. I wasn't really interested in it, as I'm trying to collect only older Canons that I used to have. But when the seller said $5.00, I couldn't resist! It too had the non closing battery door, the plastic tab that holds it shut was worn down. I checked on eBay and a seller was offering a brand new door for around $10.00. I got it, and was able to install it without much difficulty. Might be an idea to check eBay yourself. Not really having much interest in the camera, I recently sold it for $45.00 locally.

  6.

I'm a model railroad photographer, been doing it for about 40 years now. A while ago a friend asked me to photograph a ship model he purchased. Its a model of the "Marco Polo", a locally built sailing ship that became quite famous in its time. Here's one of my shots.

The water is a scan from a nautical magazine my friend loaned me. The backdrop is a wall in my hobby room with painted clouds.

I maintain a hobby website for model railroaders wanting to photograph their models, perhaps there might be something of interest in the site:
http://sites.google.com/site/railphotog/

    Good luck!

  7.
Seems like the megapixel race is back on, has been for some time. I see point and shoot cameras advertised regularly with 16MP. In fact I bought a Canon A3400 last fall with this size of a sensor. So it seems 16 is the current magic number. I picked up a 7 year old Canon G9 last week, it has 12.1MP.
