1.
I am glad to hear that Boots stocks film and sorry that Snappy snaps ruined your photos. I used Snappy Snaps 2 years ago and was very pleased with developing about 8 rolls of 35mm film. I could have waited till getting back to Kentucky but if things go wrong you can still shoot more. My camera of choice Nikkormat ft3 or Minolta srt 202.
You guys that watch, Saturday Night Live and Seth Myers the news desk and also the producer of the show. Seth was in Louisville Kentucky for an engagement and a reporter asked him if this was his first time in Kentucky. He said yes and Kentucky was so behind the rest of the world, they still use 35mm film cameras.
We still drink aged Bourbon whisky and make love to women also.

 2.
I tried with 3 different batteries and cleaned the battery posts, nothing. I sent the A-1 to Garrys camera repair. Would you recommend another repair shop? It is a shame to not be able to use this one, it looks like a new camera. Mint with issues, I saw that on the -bay recently, ha. Any suggestions other than giving it away? Back in the display case.

 3.
I have a black Canon A-1 that I was going to give to my daughter a few months ago and sent it off to have a cla and seals. It came back a few days later with my check and a note that said, camera had been in water and that the board was ruined. I've had this camera for 5-6 years, it looks like new and I need a second opinion or the advice as to check it myself. Actually, the camera has not left the display case since I bought it. Mint Mint!! Can anyone help?

 4.
I went to a ceremony last Wednesday at a VA veterans home and took my Nikkormat ft3. There were about 150 or so vets from the WWII and a few Korean war vets there to receive their long awaited medals. Most had never said what they did in the war. Many were in the European and south pacific theators.
Most of the time when a fellow brags about his service days like some people on here often do, they were not warriors, they were weathermen. These WWII vets received purple hearts , bronze stars, combat infantry badges, oak leaf clusters and decorations from France, etc. Heroes, every one of them and about 50% Southern soldiers. Look at some photos of the WWII soldiers, they didn't receive their medals for valor. They are dying 1000 per week and were never honored until now. Both northern and southern veteran US soldiers. Can you tell any difference in any of these US soldiers? Same uniform same country.
James Martin you need to get the hate out of your heart towards the Americans that live in the southern states, it is senseless. All the Confederate soldiers and all the slaves are dead. The US congress came up with Jim Crow plan not southerners. The war is over. Lighten up.
I am a southerner and darn proud of it. But, this forum is about classic old cameras.

 5.
Hand to hand combat class at Ft. Ord in Monterey CA. 1967. First you kick them in the jewels and when they bend over to protect themselves from further abuse, hit with both hands open palms to their ears, extreme pain occurs now and they probably grab for their ears at which you poke them in their eyes. The aggressors are now completely helpless and you can quit or proceed as far as you wish. Or you can run like hell out of there.

 6.
I believe there is a virus going around. I went to Washington D.C. last week and took my XE-7 and took one shot and advance lever froze and mirror stayed up and finally returned only to happen again. I am glad I had my Android phone with me and a Olympic epic stylus for backup. I will try the baseplate removal and lube a little. It has been a great camera for years. Other than this, it looks new. Good luck to all.

 7.
I still have my first camera, Kodak Holiday. I had used my Mom's Brownie box camera until my parents got tired of me going through film like crazy. 8 shots went fast and we lived in the country. We only went to town on Saturdays and my allowance was 25 cents per week. The Holiday camera used 127 film and I had a few more shots. Had to still wait to buy film.Ebay opened up a new world for me as a 40 year old man. I could finally afford the cameras that I had lusted for so long. I have far too many wonderfull cameras and I don't want to part with any of them. But, I agree the slugs have taken all of the fun out of picking up a great little camera. Try to find a lens with a camera almost impossible.I'm finding good deals at antique shops. I picked a worn canvas bag from the 50s with a dirty Practica and three lens, filters and more goodies for $ 33.00 no outragous shipping cost. It cleaned up and isn't sluggish after a few minutes of limbering up. I left a Canon AE-1 and Pentax K1000 and Mamiya 500 or 1000, can't remember which, laying there for someone else to enjoy. Antique shops are for men too. I am a film lover.

 9.
I took my Nikon 8008s and my wife to the Lexington cemetery, truly the most beautiful day and I kept a promise for a change. In the past 30 days my area has had tornados, 5" snowfall, and spring arrived. I was carrying the Nikon and the strap slipped off and the camera went bouncing across the pavement, hit the ground 3 times. I thought the worst. I thought it was all over but, the power was still on and no visible damage. I shot the rest of the roll and everything seemed ok. I dropped off the film at Walgreens later and love the results. This 8008s is a tank. Get one its great!

 10.
I've wondered if there is a list for Rare cameras, using the word sparingly and in your judgement instead of the comments on ebay. Lets put a limit of 40 and this is your opinion, no provenance needed. I believe this will be interesting because I am amazed every week with some of the wonderful examples I see on this forum. It is one of the most interesting sites on the net. Bring em on, with photos if you have them. This could turn into a shopping list.

 11.
My good fortune began when I came home one day with some items I had bought from an antique mall. My neighbor saw a framed print of General U.S. Grant and family and admired it to the point of asking "How much for it". I said $650.00 and he said would I be interested in some cameras and equipment I said lets have a look. I am not now or have I ever been a fan of General Grant. However, I am a fan of photography. He had a Nikon FE and 4 prime lens and a Canon AE-1 Program with 3 primes as well and case and filters and lots of goodies, filters, etc. He had no interest in his equipment at all. I had bought the framed print ( litho ) for the frame and boy o boy did I say yes, but not the frame. He was very happy. I was, and am still happy. I have had lots of enjoyment and I saw him last year (he moved) and he has added a few more U.S. Grant prints since that day. We both added to our collections and I have to say, mine has really got out of hand. I need more room. Oh, and the best part, I had paid $25.00 for the framed print.

 12.
I cannot find b&w film period in my town and Kodak film is nonexistent in Wal-mart, Target, Meijers, etc. There is a Murphy's Camera store 25 miles away and there isn't any discounts on anything there. Kodak has returned to their humble beginings, shoot the film and send in the camera. Are there any film makers in our neigboring countries south of the border? Why not? It couldn't possibly cost as much as in the USA. Just a thought.

 13.
I bid $5.00 on a Minolta SR T101 with 55mm lens and case with 7 day look and no one bid against me. Meter works like new, cosmetics are pristine. It is flawless. The photos were not very good, so I bid $5.00 and forgot about it. My Droid buzzed with a email from Ebay that I was a winner. Some days are diamonds and somedays are stone.
