Hi everybody.
To the everlasting question "What is Photography?" an answer could be this project.
I just found about it, ten
minutes ago.
Watch the video and see how little 12 years old kids enjoy taking photography in
Ghana. Then watch the pictures...
An awsome initiative. Let's send these kids cameras and film.
Since there was a San Francisco exhibition last august, maybe this has been
posted already... anyway, for thoses who did not know yet, have a look, it is
really good.
Happy shooting-
Not really 40mm... 38mm, Fuji lens on Fuji Klass (=AFM35), open at f2, no flash (of course).
Since it is not a 40mm, I give you the nice story. This was the first trip to France (Dec 2003) of my girl friend. She liked the hat but did not buy it. Next day she went back home, in Japan. I ran down the store, bought the hat and sent it to her. We married in in December 2004. :)
I wish my M6 had a 40mm mounted on with 40mm frames, I love this focal length.
Do not mind the price in the future.
If your budget is enough for acquiring an M6 and a 50mm cron on today's market, and if you think it's a fair price, just go for it.
I bought mine in 2004 and since then I really do not mind its value on the market.
Happy Shooting!

When I read the title of your posting, I thought here is a guy who is trying to compare oranges and apples.
I cannot however help thinking that the Nikon D2X with Nikkor 50/1,4 would be a superior support for the 3M post-it than the Leica IIIf RD ST w/ Leicavit Rapidwinder, but it is another test. If ever you have time to perform this daunting task, please do so... I do not have pink 3M post-it so I cannot do the test myself.
THanks for the laught.

Canon G5, bought used for working purpose... but I use it often for candid shop.

"We call it "35mm" because that's the width of the film itself."
Thanks Al, it is so logical, yet I did not even think about it.
I will check out this Churchill website, I have always admired him.

Cool, thank you Huw Finney, I actually learned about linear ratio enlargement, I have not thought before about the fact that to obtain an image X times bigger, you need X2 area... which is by the way completly logical, if we think about mister Pythagore. I will also make sure to remember about the "marketing" enlargement, which is not false but missleading... hence marketing.
Tomorrow, I will process... huh no... I will chemistry my two rolls of pictures form a recent 3 days trip in Korea. (sorry about the new verb, I could not resist.) and I hope there will be decent ones I can show on the forum. It was a trip in Pusan (or Busan), the second biggest city in Korea. Not very interesting for museums or architecture, but if you like busy markets (fish, clothes, vegetables...) and spicy food, you will love the place.
Oh, and about 35mm... the size of a negative is (usually) 24mmX36mm, so I always wondered why we call it 35mm. It does not bug me at all, but I was just wondering.
Bye,

She is definitely a very good photographer. I wonder how she managed not getting her camera stolen, happened to many pros. I think she is really talented and I hope she will pursue in this direction.

Nice pics... I would just say that it is not the statue of Venus you took in the Louvre, but the statue called "The Victory of Samotracia"...
The most famous Venus sculpture (Venus of Milo) has no wings (Venus is not an angel) no arms, but she has a head. ;)
Happy shooting!

If you have a Canon EOS, just shoot with a prime EOS lens. I do not think mounting a Leica R lens on an EOS is worth the trouble. PLus you will loose the autofocus capabilities and, as it has been said often here, it would be hard to note a huge gap between the quality of a canon L lens and a Leica R.
Better to stick with consistent system. Nothing to do with religion BTW...
Happy shooting!

Hey, I just saw it today... I bought the first issue of the magazine last month... I will buy this one too. Unfortunately, I cannot read Japanese, but I am working on it. Maybe 3 to 5 more years to go before I can.
Congratulation John.

:p
It's actually on July 15th...
There is a matsury (festival) in Fukuoka where half naked men race in the city, carrying huge shrines. Race starts a 4:59am (yes, am). The finish line is in a narrow street. After the race is over, the competitors go to have food and drinks (mostly drinks!) and the spectators take pictures of the results, displayed at the second floor of a small house.
As you can see, I like to take pictures of the spectators at this moment.
Cheers!
