  1. Panning is pretty easy at 1/250 on these slow Heritage Flight shots, it just takes practice. 1/200, and 1/160 work well also. When you get down to 1/125th you start to push it. I usually go to 1/125 or slower for taxi shots, because of the engine turning so much slower at idle.

The pan is solid, but, and I'm guessing, it looks like it was underexposed, and brightened too much in post processing. I may be wrong, but it just has that look.

I don't know about the handling, since I am not a pilot. I did over hear the pilot this year describing that the plane is set up to turn left, and turn left fast. It really does not turn right too well.

The pan is good, and the rain adds to the image, but the fence you had to shoot over in the foreground detracts from the image a lot. My guess is that you probably did not have much choice in the matter though.
  2. I really like the angle. I'm surprised that at f/11 there is not more depth of field. I guess the motion is too much to hold the DOF. I may try to get to Indy this year for qualifying. I have never seen a modern F1 car. I just need to hear those V10's scream before all the major rule changes take effect.

It actually has two props. They rotate in opposite directions. All the Shackelton bomber Griffon's have the contra-rotating props. The Griffon is the Merlin's big brother. It is a lot bigger than the standard Merlin, but a lot heavier. They can't compete in the gold class any more, but they have won in the past.

This is Dario Franchitti. Nice shot, the background to the left is blown out, but everything else looks good. Maybe just a little more light on the face, but PS can take care of this.
  3. Excellent shot. Way to hold up us 10D shooters. Yes you can shoot sports with a 10D, although I think I hear a 20D calling my name.

Only minor nit, maybe you could bring up more detail in the black portion of the paint with the shadow/highlight tool in PS.

Your looking at what is probably the future of the sport class at Reno. John and Trisha Sharp's Nemesis NXT. It is powered by a twin turbocharged and intercooled Lycoming 540. They qualified at 324.8MPH not really pushing anything.

Unfortunately they suffered a gear failure and did not race.

I would not be suprised to see it run close to 400MPH next year.

First off Mike Brown's fuel injected R-3350 powered Sea Fury-September Fury.

Behind that is another of Mike Brown's toys, an F7F Tigercat-The Big Bossman.

Behind that is the Sander's family R-4360 powered (that 28 cylinders, 4,360 cubic inches), Sea Fury-Dreadnought.

And finally the Sander's family Sea Fury-Argonaut.
