Shutter speed is way too high. 1/250 is max, or the prop stops. #1 rule in avaition photography is, do not under any circumstances stop the prop.

Beautiful.

Colors look awesome, I like the angle, just needs to be better focused. Maybe little tighter crop to get rid of the fence on top.
-
I don't know about the handling, since I am not a pilot. I did over hear the pilot this year describing that the plane is set up to turn left, and turn left fast. It really does not turn right too well.
-
Norman, I guess I was wrong. I like the first one better. It's always a fine line you walk with the shadow/highlight tool.
-
The pan is good, and the rain adds to the image, but the fence you had to shoot over in the foreground detracts from the image a lot. My guess is that you probably did not have much choice in the matter though.

I really like the angle. I'm surprised that at f/11 there is not more depth of field. I guess the motion is too much to hold the DOF. I may try to get to Indy this year for qualifying. I have never seen a modern F1 car. I just need to hear those V10's scream before all the major rule changes take effect.

Thanks again. I did not have much of a choice here but to zoom in. This was after the final race and hundreds of people were around the plane.
-
Thanks, I did not get any where you can see the burners, but I got quite a few with the distortion behind the airplane from the heat.

It actually has two props. They rotate in opposite directions. All the Shackelton bomber Griffon's have the contra-rotating props. The Griffon is the Merlin's big brother. It is a lot bigger than the standard Merlin, but a lot heavier. They can't compete in the gold class any more, but they have won in the past.

Thanks, I got lucky here, I only wish it was digital. I hate scanning!!!

Yeah it's tight, one of my many slightly mistimed shots. LOL

Excellent shot. Way to hold up us 10D shooters. Yes you can shoot sports with a 10D, although I think I hear a 20D calling my name.
Only minor nit, maybe you could bring up more detail in the black portion of the paint with the shadow/highlight tool in PS.

Very nice, you almost never see any photos from right behind the starting line anymore.

This plane is flat out awesome looking, and fast. Qualified at 465.4MPH, and finished 3rd in Sunday's Gold race.
-
Your looking at what is probably the future of the sport class at Reno. John and Trisha Sharp's Nemesis NXT. It is powered by a twin turbocharged and intercooled Lycoming 540. They qualified at 324.8MPH not really pushing anything.
Unfortunately they suffered a gear failure and did not race.
I would not be suprised to see it run close to 400MPH next year.

First off Mike Brown's fuel injected R-3350 powered Sea Fury-September Fury.
Behind that is another of Mike Brown's toys, an F7F Tigercat-The Big Bossman.
Behind that is the Sander's family R-4360 powered (that 28 cylinders, 4,360 cubic inches), Sea Fury-Dreadnought.
And finally the Sander's family Sea Fury-Argonaut.

One of the many stock Mustangs that race in the unlimited Bronze class at Reno. Qualified at 354.6MPH.
