1.
I have got Canon 7s and it was the best procurement I have ever made in the rangefinders. Worked with all mine soviet lenses including J-12.

 2.
Oh...I did not get it at first, sorry. It was GDR's ORWO Chrome slide film most likely day light UT-18. It used to have green/red strip and red half usually was removed upon reload. The original spool had quite inconvenient latch so it usually was replaced with less polished but more robust Russian counterpart. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%D0%9A%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B5%D1%82%D0%B0_ORWO_CHROM_UT-18_%D0%93%D0%94%D0%A0,_1983_%D0%B3%D0%BE%D0%B4.jpg

 3.
I knew someone in Donetsk who could fix Kiev's for a reasonable price. But he is driven way from his shop and now is somewhere in Russia, temporarily out of business. Fixing Kiev is doable but required quite a bit of skills.

 4.
I do not think that it is ORWO in the cassette. The seal is broken. The canister is reusable and it may be BW film. Worth to try to develop it. May be a glance from the Evil Empire...Original ORWO slide chemistry is not available although there is someone in Moscow who is specialized in processing old found ORWO films.

 5.
Everything for M42 made in Japan is better that Zenit. Unless you have a specific requirement or nostalgic matter. However if you want a real Soviet stile find working Zenit 3M and enjoy the brutality.
