1.
Thank you for the answers! So basically i have a 55 mm with an f 2.8ish (regarding DOF). Since in most ocasion i use DOF creativly and i have a lot of 2.8 film cameras, doesn't sound like something i would like. Also the availability of the lenses is quite poor. I have seen a 1.4 exists, but it is really rare and expensive

 2.
Dear all,
I was wandering if you can help me with a dilema..
I recently fell in love with the olympus pen ft, a SLR so small with a design that seems way advanced for 1963.
I have seen one for sale at a price that requires a certain amount of efort from my side and i was wondering about depth of field and focal lenght.
I have noticed that the standard lens is a 38 f1.8 which seems extraordinary; but then i started to have some doubts about this figures .
Judging by its size and the fact that is half frame is indeed a f 1.8 equivalent with a full 35 mm frame camera? Maybe i compare with digital but i know form there , the smallest the senzor the depth of field goes bigger.
Also this 38 is equivalent to a 50? Is the focal lenght the same? At 38 mm do i have the same field of view as on a full 35 mm frame camera?

Best Regards
\Cristian

 3.
@John: Great and knowledgeble alternatives , but unfortunatly they are way out of my budget :(
A Kiev 4 with lens costs about 15 EUR in Bucharest though usually they are really beat-up
@James: Actually I have a pretty non-working Contax III body :). The shutter courtains don't fall properly and they remain slighly open under 1/500. So you know from where i have the lens.

Thank you for the answers

 4.
Hi,
It happened for 3 Kiev 4 so far and i am buying a new one.

I have a Contax Sonnar f2 lens and i got to use it on something accesible pricewise.

The results of the lens and Kiev body were very good, it seems the rangefinder is spot on , nice pictures, but this ribbons keep rupturing (often quite soon after 2-3 films).

I heard from a camera repair guy here in Bucharest that the issue is old age combined with a design flow where this ribbons roll on some jagged channels (bad quality control) and they don't use some wheels to be guided through like Contax (don't know if this is real). He said somethign about using soap on them.

Do you guys know any method to improve the lifespan of this ribbons without replacing them. Is the soap thing a good idea?

Best regards
