  1. <p><a href="../photodb/user?user_id=969715">Len Chrucky</a> "I can't prove that Canon delivers the best image quality but Canon currently makes the fastest glass. That is a fact. F/1.2 baby!"<br>

<br /> Hey, use google.com to find out more information about lenses from Nikon. We have f/1.2!<br /> Anyway.<br /> When I take my first DSLR, which was Nikon D70s, a very good camera in that time (and now too) I read all time about Canon. I was a bridge and p&s and slr Canon user. So, I go to the shop, very pleased by the Canon 400D. But someone close to me it was have a Nikon D70s in his hand...I take it in my hand, I looked at this body (with 18-70)...I like the colour red and black and I ask that person: are you ok with this camera? He said..."at work I use Canon, at home Nikon. Yes, I do." I take a look a few moments, I go at home and read about this D70s. After a week I found my self searching for a good price on internet. I took the camera after one month of waiting, from Germany...It cost more than a Canon in that moment, but I was very happy with it.<br /> So...decide by your self. Both are good. Pentax also.<br /> How much do you have? What photos do you want to take? Wild, landscape, macro, studio, casual, jurnalism...etc..this is the problem that you have no which system to buy!.<br /> You need a body, one or two memory cards, one or more lenses (maybe with time to take this lens), camera bag, maybe a flash, filters, tripod...and so on...<br /> Good luck!</p>

  2. <p>On FF 105 lens will do best job for their working distance. I have D300 and I use it at 157.5mm, and is ok. I have 85/1.8, but I prefer for F100 and D300, this 105.<br>

Bokeh, is nice and creamy butter for both of them.<br>

Let us know about your chioce and what it works/fit for you.<br>

    Happy hollyday.</p>

  3. Asus eepc 1000H - 10", intel gma 950, 1 gb (one module only, if you want to change it, you must take out that only one and put antoher module - recommanded is 2gb for vista or/and xp) and 160GB HDD.

    Packard Bell 12.1" , intel x3100, 2gb, hdd 160gb hdd.

You can use them everywhere you go...you have battery inside, maybe you can take a car charger...

You can take raw or jpg how many do you want now...

    I hope so it helps.

    Have a nice trip.

  4. Tamron 90mm f/2.8 SP Di macro my fav for portrait and nature. Creamy butter bokeh. Lovely. Same Nikkor 200mm f/4 IF ED. Beautiful bokeh. I could like to say I like the Nikkor 105mm f/2 DC because I see many photos with this lens. Maybe will be the next portrait lens. I have also 85mm f/1.8 AF-D but I dont like it, I will sell and keep the Tamron 90mm f/2.8, more versatile lens, nice boken, easy to use, enough fast for

Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 AF-D is a nice one too. Short but nice on Dx bodys (~ 75mm crop factor).

  5. Hi

    I have a used F100 and I will like to buy a Nikon D300 (I sold my D80)

The lenses that I have now are:

    Nikon 50/1.4 AF-D, 85/1.8 AF-D, 200/4 IF ED micro, 70-210/4, 70-300VR,

    Sigma 70-200/2.8, Tamron 90/2.8 macro, Tokina 12-24/4.

I dont have a middle zoom (I sold my 18-70). I want to sell a tele (maybe Sigma) and a sigma 24-70/2.8 (new one

for canon, that I have) and this will give me some $+ bonus to buy anyway a sb800 and a middle lens like this

tamron 28-75/2.8 (or maybe a nikkor) to use with film and digital. Also I search for a 20 or 24 or 28mm f/2.8

used. And in the future 80-200 or 180 both with 2.8.

I look interested of Nikkor 17-35/2.8. Can I get maybe a used one close too 900$ ? (price for tokina 12-24/4 and

the 28-75/2.8 that I would like to buy for middle range)

I need a combination for film with digital. No money left. I need also a SB800 too.(I sold my SB600).

What can I keep or sell from this lenses?

I love tele lenses between 100-300. I see that I work often from 35mm to 200mm.

The main use is 50% film and 50% digital. Film for my personal use and digital for weddings, class students,

portrait and all around (nature, street, macro).

I like 200/4 and 90/2.8, but if I recieve an offer I will sell it.

Thank you in advance for everything. Is hard to choose.

  6. Hi

You should take a look on this test.

    http://www.pbase.com/miljenko/50mm_vs_50mm

I have both. I love my f/1.8, but the f/1.4 is in test now.

The f/1.2 is wonderfull, if you can life with manual focus. I didnt test this lens, but I read a lot about it. Anyway this lens have different prices.

With f/1.8 I use it beetwen f/2.8-4 where is ok, after f/4 is very sharp. No CA. I prefer sometimes to use a higher ISO and work on f/2.8...

I have also 85/1.8 AF-D. Not impresed about the boken. I have Tamron 90/2.8 who dosent look so good construction or maybe a good lens on other opinion, but I really love this much better than 50/1.8 or 1.4 or 85/1.8...For boken I do love my Tamron 90/2.8 and Nikkor 200/4 IF ED, both macro lenses.

If you want a 50's you could go for f/1.8 and with the difference maybe a 85/1.8 or or something else.

But what for 50mm lens? You want for portrait? Or just because they are /1.8 or /1.4 or you like this focal lengh?

For portrait you can choose: 85/1.4, 105 f/2 DC, 70-200/2.8 VR. Maybe 105/2.5 but manual focus too. If you dont have so much money 50/1.8, 85/1.8 are ok.

I have a question for my self.....why do you want tp get D700...what kind of work? And what is the last Nikon body that you have it or still have it?

  7. If you like to stay with D300 take the Tokina 14-24. If you like to upgrade sooner or later to Fx camera D700 (that I suggest) or D3 take a Nikon 17-35/2.8. You do maybe a lot of landscapes and the avatange of this lens are you may use filters on it because you are going on outside to make photos, in the wild, yuo dont know what may happends. Also the Nikon 14-24/2.8 are a good choice if you plan to take care about the front of this lens. So, like someone said, why dont you take the D700 and the difference between D700 and D3, take the lens and with the rest of money go somewhere nice in holiday.

    - I really need D3 or to take D700?

    - I need 14mm or 17mm for what I am doing?

    - I need to protect my lens where I go? (it's a lot of money for both of this lens)

A Dx combination D300 and Tokina 12-24/4 will be a good choice.

Have a good light and let us know your decision.

  8. Sandisk Extreme III have a new model for this year and it have a note on each card "model 2008" and under this note writes "30Mb/s" which will be enough for you 50D. Take two of 16 Gb, or for the beggining take a two cards of 8Gb, that will be enough for a large RAW wedding.

For your work you dont need "burst" cards. Even Extreme III or Lexar UDMA x300 will work just fine. The speed on your computer it counts if you want a Extreme IV card or Ducatti. But for 20 seconds maxim you can spend the money for your needs or other cards.

Rob give you a link and before I take a card, 8Gb Sandisk Extreme III, I read that test. I take it for a Nikon D300. BHvideo.com have some rabate of US people.

Take what you "really" need and not a Lamborghini, with a big engine on a 120km/h highway limit.

And please look carefully at the card. Like I said it have a note "model 2008" and "30mb/s" if not are the old version of extreme III and they have 20mb/s.

With the rest of money take a firewire cardreader or up to 28-30mb/s that have the speed transfer needed for this speed cards transfer.
