2. Using Custom Controls, I have assigned "Direct AF Point Selection" to the Multi Controller. However, one must "wake up" the camera by pressing the shutter button half way and then releasing in order for the Multi Controller to become active. It will then remain active for about 5 seconds. I haven't figured out how to the lengthen this amount of time. Perhaps someone on Photonet has.
 3. These filter wrenches from B&H are far superior to those plastic ones from Ebay. $12.89. Sensei72-82mm Rubberized Filter Wrench (2-Pack)

 5. NY blueberries. Canon 7D II. Tamron 18-400 f3.5-6.3 lens. f 16@ 1/250 iso 640 400mm. I'm liking this lens more and more.
 6.
After editing in PSE14 the JPEG's contain file name and size, camera model, shooting date,TV, AV, exposure comp., ISO, and Image size while the same Raw file contains that and MUCH more. This is when viewing the files in DPP. I thought all the exif data was preserved when editing. I'm wondering if something is turned off somewhere.

 7.
After editing my photos in PSE14 I use the "Save As" function to save them (as JPEG's) to a folder on my desktop. Doing this strips out most, but not all of the exif data. I would like the complete exif data saved to the JPEG. Why doesn't it save all the exif data? Am I doing something wrong?

 8.
Marcus, you're right on the money concerning the importance of weight when backpacking. I also used to carry a big camera and several lenses on long distance trips and regretted it after a climb or two. I now carry a Canon XT, 50mm 1.4 lens and an Ultra Pod. Its not an ideal kit but I've managed to get some decent shots.

 9.
Check out the Canon EF 70-300mm IS. It's a surprisingly good lens. It runs about $600 new and used around $400. It has a longer reach than the 55-250mm and is compatible with crop and full frame cameras.

 10.
Does anyone find this aggravating? I can't figure out the purpose of this.

 11.
The exposure level indicator on the Canon 7D mkII is on the side of the viewfinder in M mode. In all other modes it is on the bottom where it is big , bright and easy to see. It is only only the side in M mode where it is small and difficult to see. Has anyone figured out how to move it to the bottom of the viewfinder?

 12.
Go KEH website. Get a Canon XT and a Canon 18-135 lens. For around $350 you'll have a decent kit that will be plenty good enough for a beginner course and takes good photos. You will outgrow this kit sooner or later so start saving for now for better stuff.

 13.
Have you tried reducing the flash output? This can usually be done on the flash itself and also on the camera. Gradually reduce the flash output until you get the amount you need.

 14.
I have been using the Lexar UDMA 7 card without any problems. I use a USB 3.0 card reader to upload images to my computer. It is very fast.

 15.
Get the 5D. Its the least expensive way to get into a full frame camera. And its a great camera. Its not called the Classic for nothing. You won't regret it.
