    Hi Nick,

     

    Here is a quick cirtique of what I see in your image.

    I like the way your dog has the same pose as the statue in the background. It appears your focus is on the statue as oppsed to the dog (which i would assume was your subject). You will need to watch that. This would also explain why the focus on the dob is soft. Also the image is tlited a little bit. Did you have your camera tipped? This can be corrected in photoshop if you wanted. But it's a good first attempt I look forward to seeing more of your work.

    I like the view in this photo. But being that it's called boats I would have cropped it so more of dock was visible. I believe that the everything else is distracting from your main subject(s) which is the boats. But overall Good job!
