    You learn something new every day. Even though I wasn't in Washington DC FOR the Cherry Blossom Festival, I was there during it and the photo was taken at that time (April 2). Based on reviewing other photos, I'll concede this isn't a cherry blossom (so I'll rename it), and it probably is a variation of magnolia -- but it looks nothing like the magnolias we have throughout our neighborhood in Dallas - different leaf structure and different blossoms. In any event, I had a great time there, and very much appreciate the positive comments. Now I'm off to get a book on flowering trees! ;-)
