I cannot seem to find a good photo browsing (not editing!)
program for Mac. I need something that will display thumbnails
of small JPEG files quickly. Windows XP has a great program
that comes pre-installed (can't remember what it's called) that
lets you browse photos quickly . I haven't found a program for
Mac (OSX or 9) that will do this as well as the Windows program.
Pictureviewer, Photoshop, Canon Imagebrowser, and Preview
are all way to slow to view large numbers of small JPEG files.
Does anyone know of a program that will work for this?

I was recently given 3 rolls of unopened old Kodachrome film. The
box says to process it before November of 1945. I am curious to see
what it would look like if I shot it. Has anyone ever tried to do
this? Is there a way to process it? Also, does anyone know the ISO
of the film, because it is not labeled on the box. FYI, it is type A
artificial light film (tungsten)and it has been stored in a garage
thje whole time. Thanks for any info!

Hello, I am traveling in Guatemala from June 20-30 and I am not
quite sure what to expect. I hear the crime rate is pretty bad and
that worries me because I will be carrying and F5 with a couple
Nikon pro lenses (80-200 and 28-70 both f/2.8). I wanted to do a
lot of night photography also, so I know this will be even more
dangerous. Any tips on shooting without getting mugged? Also,
does anyone know if the airport in Guatemala city will allow me
to hand check film? I will have about 40 rolls. Thanks for any
insight and advice. Blaine

It depends on what you are shooting, but I'm assuming you want
to shoot seascapes and that sort of stuff. I live in Santa Barbara,
and there are some great seascapes here. Try and avoid the
more popular beaches like Leadbetter and East Beach. There is
just too many people and tourists everywhere. Some of the best
places to shoot are the small turnoffs north of SB on the 101.
Usually it is an adventure to get down to the beach, but well
worth it. Best time to shoot in SB area is at sunset and even 45
mins after sunset, thats the light I love. I have a few shots in my
folder of Santa Barbara beaches if you want to check them out.
Big Sur is a must also. Have fun.

My favorite paper is the Archival Heavyweight Matte by Epson. It is
a nice thick paper with a great surface. Its really inexpensive too.

Hey I'm looking for a good tutorial on the web for techniques on
how to make digital images look cross processed or infared.
Does anyone know of a site or want to share any info on how to
do this?

Big magenta shift converting RAW in Photoshop CS
in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing

I have this problem, ever since I upgraded to Photoshop CS I convert my Nikon D100
raw files in CS and they have this huge magenta shift. All the settings are normal, the
color space in camera and in photoshop is AdobeRGB1998. Has anyone had this
problem or know how to fix it? I have included a side by side comparison so you can
see how it looks. The image converted in PS 7 is good, but as you can see the CS
version has a huge magenta shift. Thanks for any help...
