Hi Bistra. A warm welcome to PN. I share your passion for wildlife, so I will be looking forward to your work!

Go to the Top photographers, and take a look. Select those whose colors you think are changed. If they tag their camera information, you may know what´s digital. You can then directly ask to them.... Hope I could help you!

I´m happy I did all my purchases months ago. I bought everything I needed (bodies, lenses, ...) while the €/$/£ was very good. Hope everybody was on time....
Now I guess the same is going to happen to € priced nikon goods,....do anyone in the € zone know about such a trend ?

As a newbie, I have realised, that there are two main "skills" you have to learn to take good shots.
The first, the skills needed to know your gear, their strongness and weakness, and how to make them work fine for you...
On the other side, you need "skills" to find or imagine, frame, and compose good images.
Which are the hardest to acquire in your opinion?
Personally I find the first a "must", and everybody can master it with the appropiate time and learning tools. The second is just very difficult for me, and it´s just something I'm not sure will ever have....

After almost 2 years shoting, I've found my best were made on my first week with a dslr (they are even my best rated here). So not only nostalgia, but maybe a free (or lack of) photographic knowledge and the eager to experminet without barriers expands creativity.....
PS: sorry about my english, hope it can be understandable....

Sometimes, whem I´m rating, I can see that someone before me, has been rating each photo 3/3 (it didn´t matter if it was a masterpiece or an average pic). So for me those 3/3 have nothing to do with the pics, it´s just that someone find enjoyable to do it.....

I think visits from anonymus raters aren´t counted by the system.....

I guess you´ll finally find out that the processing to jpg on your p&s is better to your eyes than the one built on your DSLR, and that to process yourself or setup your dslr to get the results desired are the right solution. But my english is not too good, so I'll wait to others to explain it :-) (may be I´m wrong )

Flattered by your kind comments :-)
Yes Manuel, not photoshop but capture Nx has something to do. I have to use any tool that can "improve" my raws. I´m not ashamed of it. :-) and as you I think ain´t nothing wrong with that.
What a day for this amateur. At work my mates have congratulated me, and even one of them had to justify my success saying I had a big camera hehehe (I know this has been discused before in this forum).
Really you have been very kind to me. I feel pride to belong to PN community as well :-)

Try Picassa 3 viewer. It can read raw, and has the best interface to review your card pics I have ever seen....

Thanks all.
Colton, that was my fave, but the seeds one (black background) was.

So 18 months ago, I had the photograpic sensibility of a snail and didn´t even have a camera. But I´d been lucky enough to produce some (good for me) photos.
Today I´d been noticed that 3 of my pics qualified, and even one of them won a 1st prize, in a regional contest on enviromental photography
I really feel happy. It´s not only the $$, It´s just that I feel pride. Thanks Photography !
PD: Wich one of the 3 do you think was the winner?

I have found that editing a pic can be as joyable as taking pictures....

The worth my pics have to me, came suddenly yesterday when I thought it was all lost. I could be that poor guy yesterday. I´m just backing up all my pics today.
So follow the wise advice of Patrick. It´s really dramatic when it happens....

Hi all. A little bit of feedback.
I could retrive all the files (about 150 GB).
This happened on a 350 Gb 3,5" hd (don´t remember the brand or model) wich I mounted on an usb box. But it also happended about 3 weeks ago on a 2,5" 180 GB Digimate III (one of those battery operated with card readers, very useful for travels)
So I think it must be because any kind of energy failure while the hd is running. A usual chkdsk over the usb units is a must..... I think I´ve learned the lesson.
I feel safer having this forum. Thanks to all.

Frank : Thanks for that wise advice. Must agree with you about the risks I´ve run in this case.
Thanks all. I feel happy. Time to go to bed (at least in this part of the world)

ALELUYA
Yes, That was the problem. File allocation was corrupted.
Love chkdsk . Tomorrow I'll buy some dvd's to backup all my units.
Thanks all for the help and solidarity.

Thanks Chris. I was thinking about that too. I´ll try....

Ok, all undelete programs I´ve tried, find the same files. They are exactly the files I have deleted in the last 6 months, but not the lost ones. As I said I didn´t delete them.
So.... I'm trying not to get panic :-)

-

Incredible. Winundelete has found just only about 40% of my lost folders, and inside there is only about 5% of the files that were there.....
I´m going to do nothing (but inspecting) until I have a true image on what happened and how to fix it.
Thanks for the tips. I´ll give feedback on the solution or failing....

I have downloaded winundelete. I´ll try it

Ok, I have fallen in love with birding in the last two months. I own a d300 and a nikkor 80-400 VR, but as everybody, I need a 800mm or more ;-)
Ok, I can't afford one of those big tele, so to get closer I have decided to buy
a) A camouflage net (maybe a hide soon)
b) A kenko 300 dg 1.4
I know about the limitations that the teleconverter will carry (softness, lack of AF in lots of situations.....) and that I'll have to learn a lot about the behavior of avians.... but I would like to hear practical advices on the use of both devices to improve my shots....
Thanks in advance !
