Alex, love the matching yellow tones. Nice shot.

Jeff,

I have always liked your work. You did nothing wrong with the portrait of Betty. What people don't understand is that portraits can be taken with any lens as long as the work is good and says something. Most portraits taken with the classic lenses are just plain boring and lifeless.

After all these years, the naysayers are getting to you? Keep up the good work.

If all you had to your name was a Leica M6 and a fast 35 mm or 50 mm lens, you would manage. Keep it simple.
Carrying your son and helping your wife with your son, is more important than any gear you will worry about. Take the s95 and be a husband and father first.

Beautiful photos but very very sad. The same can happen anywhere at anytime to any of us. Life is fragile.

I am awaiting the return of an M6 TTL from Sherry that she said was finished. She was a pleasure to work with as she is funny, witty, and knows her stuff.

Black and white? MV Photo Labs in NYC does an excellent job processing and printing. I am positive they can do an excellent job scanning. Ask for Jim, one of the owners. They are located at 4 West 37th Street, 5th Floor, NYC, NY 10018. The number is 917-208-9791.

In Miami, you can call The Dark Room. Ask for Randy or Brian. The number is 305-532-2185. They do a lot of high end printing I am positive they can help you with your scans.

I presume and hope she is ok. We had a terrific conversation about 6 weeks ago, in which we discussed a myriad of things, including Leica and Leitz. She told me that my beloved M6 would take some time to be CLA'd and that she would let me know when it is finished. I hope that she is very busy.

I am in Coral Gables. How long will you be in the Grove? How did you son's first year at the UofC go?

Am 48, got my first Leica at 40. Does that qualify me? I am not in Canada, but in Florida - plenty of Canadians here.

Keep and use the F100. It is the one of the only Nikons that I lusted after before my late father bought me a Leica M6.
If you like film, then shoot film. I love the feel, smell and look of film, though I have to tell you that I recently took possession of the Epson R-1Ds, and I love it. For color work.

If you haven't used slide film before, don't let this trip be the first time you use it. If you really want to shoot slide film in Zanzibar, shoot a few rolls before you leave on your trip. Slide film is not as forgiving as print film so if this is a once in a lifetime opportunity, shoot what you know best.
Have an awesome time.

Let me refine my question: is there two of these kinds of rangefinder lenses, an ltm and a non-ltm? If so, can I use the non-ltm on an M6 with an adapter? Will I need an adapter for the ltm for the M6 as well?
Thanks.

Can I use the 105/2.5 Nikkor PC on my M6 body with an adapter? If so, does anyone know where I can buy an adapter? I am in Florida, so anywhere in the US would be fine.
Thank you very much.

Alex,
Thank you very for your answers. I was wondering if I can use an "ultra" type card with the camera. I found a place online that has the requisite batteries for the camera.
I know that the company has done very little in the way of customer service for the camera.
I came by the camera from my college roommate who bought an M8, and who must be kicking himself about the M9. He shot a bit with the camera and said that the rangefinder alignment is off: I can have that fixed. Otherwise, the camera was barely used.
Thank you again for your time.

I recently received an R-1Ds and was wondering the following:
1. What is the largest and fastest SD card that the camera can take? Can it take an ultra type SD card? Am I limited to using a 1 gig card or can I use a larger one?
2. Are there any recent firmware or software updates?
3. Can someone give me a few hints on using the camera? I have been a Leica film shooter for years.

Thank you very much.

I use on of the Leica flashes once in a while, only out of necessity. Never really learned how to use a flash properly, so the results are not that good. When I used the diffuser that is made for the Leica, the results were much better though.

Yes, nice stuff, but awful music selections.

I am an M6 and Mamiya 7 II user, and could really care less about the M8, M8.2, and the M9, and color photography is not really my bag. However, I have always loved the DMR and its images, and would definitely buy one if I had a few more bucks.
