1.
# 3 Sorry, computer lockup here's the elk.

 2.
# 3 Bull elk in rut These male elk really do act very crazy at this time of year. We saw several episodes of the mating season rituals. No fights, but older, larger elk bugling and staring down younger rivals. Mostly by the roadside. We were hiking a high ridge one day and were 200 yards from an elk and his harem. He took a couple of steps toward us so we ended that hike early. More people are gored by elk, moose, and bison in national parks than bear attacks.

 3.
#2 Glacier Gorge a beautiful hike to some really beautiful lakes filled with wild, beautiful GreenbackCutthroat Trout.

 4.
My wife and I recently returned to Rocky Mt. National Park in Colorado for 9 days so I finally had an opportunity to shoot some, although hiking and fly fishing were the main goals. Getting a bit old and lazy so most images were shot with the Pentax Optio WG II leaving behind my Pentax K10D which I forgot to charge my batteries and forgot to bring my charger.

#1 Golden Aspens

Haig, a fish shot ! That was probably a trout swirling or gulping food such as a fly on the surface.

 6.
Doug,
I'm sure they won't be firing "missiles" from the silos. The beer brewed in them is too profitable. Besides it tastes too good also. I'm sure Matt has seen plenty of missile silos in Colorado with all of the breweries located in his state.
Thanks Howard.

 8.
Well, I think Harry is entitled to voice his opinion and I'm not going to get into a large discussion nor disagreement.
I've been contributing to this forum since 2008. Members have liked some of my images and at times they have also been critical which I have appreciated their honesty.
There are professional photographer contributors all the way up to total novices on this forum with contributors using the latest, greatest cameras and lenses and others, like me occassionally contributing point and shoot images from my WG II.
I personally probably would not have joined if this were a more serious, less congenial forum like the photo critique forum as I didn't and still don't get into every latest gadget, every single aspect of digital photography and still know I'm not as good as others. I've learned a lot from everyone on this board.
Do we pat each other on the back a bit too much or sometimes have connections with certain members that have like interests. Yes. At times people have been a bit like friends or family members. Some people have even met up at times.
I don't think that has any bearing on why people have left the forum. People come. People go. Just like in life. Sometimes we don't have anything more to contribute. I for one haven't been shooting as much as I would have liked to.
I hope Harry continues to contribute as well as everybody else.
And like Howard, that's all I'm going to say.

 9.
2 - Craft beer explosion across the USA. This one is a farm brewery meaning they have to use 20% of their hops from New York State hop farmers.

 16.
Hey Duane, thanks for starting the thread once again. My contribution is from another upstate New York Adirondack Mountain hike, Mt. Adams.
Mt. Adams has a fire tower on the summit and actually if not for the tower, you would not be able to see anything. In the late 19th century and early 20th century fire towers were built across the USA's forested areas due to very damaging, expensive, extensive forest fires.
The life of a fire tower observer. http://www.adirondackexplorer.org/book_reviews/adirondack-fire-towers-their-history-and-lore
Mt Adams, like many other fire towers eventually decayed and was scheduled to be removed which would have meant losing an absolutely incredible view of the high peak region of the Adirondacks. Through volunteers and donations, the fire tower is now refurbished.
For a short 2.3 mile hike it is actually pretty tough.
#1) A room with a view.

 17.
#3 The Minnie Ha-Ha. I took a ride on this boat way back in my childhood when driving up to Lake George was an adventure and a thrill. Now, sadly we usually avoid the area except it has a great brew pub that we like. So, the Minnie Ha-Ha flashback to my youth.

 18.
#2 It did look like rain. ?? Use the coin operated view finders or take the wide view option.
Wide view of the lake.

 19.
Thanks again to Duane for starting the POW thread. We live 15 minutes from a resort town. Lake George, NY. We hardly ever go there, but it was supposed to rain so we took a drive up for a walk.
#1 Apparently they had nothing to say to each other.

 20.
You might consider this lens also. Pentax 16-45 http://www.photo.net/pentax-camera-forum/00cgJE

 21.
#2 The Catch
It's not easy to fool these fish. It is very heavily fished everyday by more skilled fishermen than me.
Of course, the BIG ones got away!

 22.
WOW Guus!!!

A couple from another trip to the Adirondacks of northern New York. This time the famed Ausable River for fly fishing.
http://www.whitefaceregion.com/recreation/fishing
#1 The River

 23.
Thanks Duane for starting the thread and for the sentiments.
Two from a Father's Day hike in the Adirondacks : Jay Mountain.
