  1. <p>Hi,<br>

I searched all around internet but I found no information on how to push process C41 film at home...<br>

All I could find are incredible technical discussion on how will change the image but nothing about how to do it.</p>

<p>I don't wanna take my pictures to the lab and I feel like experimenting, so, how to push process C41 film?!<br>

Most of them, in my case, are Portra 160 VC/NC, I don't know if these kind of film are suitable for push processing or not but I got them underexposed (intentionally) and now I would like to try to push process them.<br>

My chemicals are the ones from the Ornano C41 developing kit (the only one I could find here).</p>

<p>Is there any table I could look at for the delevoping time (just as BW film)?!</p>

<p>Thank you very much in advance!</p>

  2. <p>Hi!<br /> Thank you for your answer...<br>

The model you suggested does you battery! Right?<br>

How can a meter work without energy at all?<br>

Is there anything like an handheld flash meter that does not require battery and it's good?! (just in case the electronic one doesn't work...)</p>

    <p>Thank you a lot!</p>

    <p><br /> Alessandro</p>

  3. <p>Thank you for all the useful advice, but nobody answered my question regarding the 758DR/D.<br>

Is it the same to purchase the 758DR or the 758D and later adding the wireless module?!<br>

    Thank you very much!<br>

Crispin Solidox, I'm completely new to external lightmeter so maybe I'm gonna ask something stupid, but, when you say that your metering winding knob is always on, you mean that there are no batteries?!<br /> What is exactly a winding knob?! The models with le needle?!</p>

    <p>Thank you so much!</p>

  4. <p>Hi all!<br>

Thank you so much for your replies...<br>

I found out, looking around in internet, that is possible to attach a wireless transmitter to the 758D, right?! Would it be the same if I buy the 758D and then attach this module or if I buy the 758DR?<br /> Because I cannot find a good price for the 758DR like the ones I found for the 758D.<br>

    Thank you so much!</p>

  5. <p>Hi,<br>

thank you all for your kind replies!<br>

Ok, I'm definately going for and external meter, I guess the 758, so that I can have an "all in one" meter and what I understood should be the best one.<br>

I took a look around and I found that there are different version of the 758, one is the 758C and the other one is the 758D. I didn't actually understood if the 758DR is the same 758D or is something different. I guess the C stands for Cinema and so I should go for the D (digital) version but I just wanted to have a confirm from you....<br>

"It works with pocket wizards, has a normal flash mode waiting for flash and works when cabled."<br>

I didn't know about the "normal flash mode", does it mean that I leave the meter in position, fire the flash with my pocketwizard and it will get the right exposure without being syncronized with the flash?!</p>

    <p>Thank you a lot!</p>

    <p>Alessandro</p>

  6. <p>Hi all,<br>

I've always shot digital and this is the first time that I meet film, so please, if I say something really stupid is just because I still don't know very much about film photography...thank you...Few weeks ago I bought, for what I thought to be a reasonable price, a Mamiya RZ67 Pro with 110mm normal lens. It's been my first time with film in all my life and it has been a fantastic experience!<br>

The biggest problem I encoutered while shooting was how to get a proper reading of the light. Since I still do not own an external lightmeter I took my 5DmkII and used it as a meter... Anyway, as you can imagine, it was not really comfortable going around with two camera, one just for an approximately reading. So, because I decided that I'm gonna be very serious about MF, I decided to buy something proper.<br>

I saw that there are some metered prism (on ebay about 250€) for the RZ67 that give different readings and give you the opportunity to switch to AE. On the other hand, my first thought was to buy an external lightmeter, but actually I really don't know what to buy. I also really like to use the waist level finder and I don't think I would really love to put a prism on top of my camera and use it as a kind of big normal 35mm reflex.<br>

    What do you suggest!?<br>

Right now, if I had to choose, I would go for the external lightmeter even if, probably, you waste more time taking readings. But I guess it is much more precise than the metered prism.</p>

<p>Just a few things I think you should know to give me an advice for buying a meter...<br>

85% of the time I shoot model in studio/location for fashion.<br /> 10% of the time I shoot animals in the wild (I think if anybody as ever done it with MF but I don't wanna go off topic)<br /> 5% of my time I shoot landscapes.<br>

I really use a lot digital, so I would really like to have a lightmeter that will be good for both digital/film.<br>

I would like to have something that will work with studio flash (I have some 40 years old bowens monolite...) and it would be great if the lightmeter could fire the flash without any cable (do I need to attach a Pocket Wizard to the meter or what?)<br>

I prefer to spend quite a lot of money just once and have the best out there then buying something good today for then switching for the best tomorrow.</p>

<p>Thank you a lot for having read all this stuff! Really, thank you...</p>

    <p>Alessandro</p>

  7. <p>Hi,<br>

thanks a lot for all the answers!<br>

Actually I couldn't find anything on amazon: I look for vogue and then I run across all the others books but they don't seem too professional to me...just advacend...<br>

Have you got any specific title?!</p>

<p>Stefan, where is the selection you are talking about!?<br>

I took a quick look but I could not find it...(except if it's the 3 books list in the tab in the lower part of the home page...)</p>

    <p>Thanks a lot!</p>

  9. Hi,

once in a gallery (I mean in the "real" world) I saw some very big (1 meters x 1.5 at least) so sharp that you

could say you were inside of the actual scene in the picture...

    They were BEAUTIFUL...

Now, I really think they were made with a big format camera but since I don't have one I talked to the guys at

the lab and they told me that "out there" there are some kind of interpolation software that are much better than

PS in doing this operation (I mean incrasing the resolution of an image) and with a native 20 megapixel image you

could go up to 40 and make a decent big stamp.

They knew there are this type of programm but they don't know the name... :-?

Can you suggest me some name for this programm?!

What do you think!? Are they realy good as they told me or not!?

Thanks a lot in advance for your contributions!

    Bye

    Alessandro

  10. Actually my monitor won't let me select anything ( I mean RGB an contrast: basically what the software ask you to set up for itself). I tried to use different white point: 5500, 6000 K° but things don't change!

Actually I realy need an accurate balancing of my monitor's colors because I need to make lots of prints!

Any other things that could went wrong?!

Thanks a lot for your advice!

I think I read something about the green issue on the FAQ page on their website but I don't actually remember very well...you should check it out!

    Bye

  11. Hi,

I've just purchased this tool to calibrate my monitor but every time I run the application at the end I get a

    very pink monitor.

I've read all the FAQ on the website and I can't get it to work the proper way...

I've got a Mac Power PC G5 with a Mac Cinema Monitor.

    What can I do?!

At the storewhere I bought it they have no clue...

Is it normal that the application (Eye-One Match) won't let me choose which type of setup (basic or advance) I

    would like to perform!?

    Thanks a lot,

    I'm getting crazy...

    Alessandro

  12. I'm sorry, I did not say "normal" meaning that it it just like any other zoom, I meant that the 85mm can give me something extra that the 70-200 cannot.

I know the 70-200 is the finest zoom possible and I will plan to have one, but, now, having to pick just one I will go for the 85mm...

I know I have to renounce to the flexibility of the zoom but I think that, for my porpoise, I can do that..

  13. Hi!

First of all, really, THANK YOU, for all your very kind comments!

Your explanations have been very useful to me...

I guess I'll get the 85mm because, like many of you said, it's a special lens that can make picture look different from every other lens, while the 70-200 is just a beautiful, but still normal, zoom.

    A few more question:

How do I identify the mark II version!?

Do you know a good online store, with good prices, that ships in the US in less that 2 week?!

I saw the pictures posted by Jems Dean (thank you about that): with the 85mm I can stilll achive the results I see in the picture taken with the 70-200, right? I have just to close the aperture and have a some distance between my subject and the background, right?!

    Thank you a lot!

    Alessandro

  14. First of all thanks a lot for your kind explanations!

Now, thinking about it a little bit, I have to agree with Derek Stanton: I have lenses to shoot everything but just to get the image. I think that with the 85mm, even though I will not have the flexibility of zoom, I would be able to add something different to my pictures. Probably is the same feeling I had the first time I used the 50mm f/1.4 and tried to work on DOF... Anyway, using the lens in the conditions I planned, I will not have problem going aroud so I don't actually have the need for a zoom (just keeping in mind the scope I will use this lens for). Thanks Derek for your comment, you really opened your mind!

Now, down to the technical issue: HOW slow is the focusing?! Really I did not know this problem and is a little worrying to me... Is really a problem?!

    Thanks a lot!

  15. Thanks a lot to all!

The velocity of focus of the 85mm is really a big problem!?

What about the quality of th pictures compared between the 85 and the 70-200?! Much more better for the 85mm ones, right!?

I will shoot not only in studio but also outside, anyway always with plenty of time for "bulding" the image, so do you think the zoom, for its versatility, would always be very useful or I can use the prime without any problem?!

    Thanks again!

  16. Thanks for the answers!

I want to shoot (mainly but not only) portraits and "fashion" images...

I will not shoot only in studio but also outside!

A lot of time I shoot in low lighting condition so I was thinking of the 85mm but I still don't know...

With the zoom will I reach the same DOP of the 85mm at 1.2 if I shoot 200mm at 2.8?!

Canon is going to release any new lens that can be compared to these 2 lenses?!

  17. Hi,

It's been a long time that I'm thinking about this 2 lenses...

Obviously I can afford to buy only one and I wanted to ask you what you think is

    the best...

I know they're both extremely good lenses but I have, unfortunately, to chose

    only one...

I want to chose one thinking that, when is going to come, I'm gonna buy the

sequel of the 5D, so Full Format (on the contrary right now I've got a 400D).

I have the 50mm f/1.4 and is really one of the lens I like the best: I really

love the small deep of field I can achive and the big aperture that makes me

able to shoot in low light condition.

I will use this lenses for portraits primarly and fashion shoot.

I cannot decide because I love the big aperture of the 85mm but I also think the

zoom 70-200 is really useful when you want to cut something out of the frame.

    Right now I have these lenses: 17-40 L, 10-22, 100-400 L, 50mm f/1.4, everything

    by canon.

So I do not cover the range between 40-100 (if you do not consider the 50mm).

What do you think would be a good choice?! Suggestions of any kind!?

Thanks a lot for your time!
