1.
I am unable to critique my own postings, i.e. thank a member for commenting on my post. The usual critique link below the photo is not there and it I use the link up top to I get message "problem....the owner has blocked critiques or a like message.
Thank you.

  2.
Seems like admistration would do it for you. Otherwise why not just repost the old photos in the new gallery; delete them from the old gallery; put a comment top of the bio page in the old site that the site has move to xxxxx and then forget about it. Maybe that is a solution if admin does not respond.

  3.
I cannot find a proper forum for this question/problem. Situation: Colander photographed against Black backgound. Equipment/Material: Film Fuji 400H. Camera Hasselblad. Lens Hasselblad 80/.8 Epson V700 scanner. The film format is 6x6. Problem: Because of solid black background the scanner will either not sense the image frame or shift the image so that the colander is hanging down around the edge and even part cut off. Worse if scanned as color. I managed to get a solution by scanning the 6x6 formats film strip at a scanner format setting of 6x7 instead of 6x6 Solution: What can I do to the scanner settings to scanner-sense image on solid black background at the proper 6x6s scanner setting. Example attached.

00ZmZ6-427823584.thumb.jpg.86aa9ef4abfbb9fb884be9d5dabf97f7.jpg

  4.
In America I print BW in the darkroom. In Israel I scan BW (negative) on a Microtek 120ff or Epson V700 -I have no darkroom in Israel. In America I process Ilford Delta and TriX with Kodak D76, Kodak stop bath and Kodak fixer (non hardener -discontinued now). In Israel I process film with Kodak chemicals above or Tmax developer and Tetenal fixer or I send the film out to local labs (I've tried 2 labs) to be processed, or I send the film back to America and it is processed by (Douglas Photographic Wichita Kansas) and returned. My problem arises in Israel as follows: When I scan film processed in Israel (processed by me or 1 of 2 labs) the scans are too contrasty (and sometimes too grainy) and often unusable -whites wash out and darks go so black that there is no detail. When I scan negatives processed by Douglas Photographic in America the images are fine; they scan fine -about like a dark room print (if a scanner can ever be like a dark room print). I have sent tens and tens of rolls to Douglas Photographic at great cost and never a problem! In short; Process BW in America scans are fine. Process BW in Israel scans are too contrasty. In Israel I have used tap water, bottled water and demineralised water (like for your steam iron) and the result are the same. I've never seen distilled water in Israel. My question is: If the discrepancy is not in the water then where can it be? By the way; color film processed in an Israli lab is fine, just fine. So now I shoot color film, scan and desaturate in PS but of course can never make a BW archival darkroom print from that negative.

  5.
I use the Epson V700. The negative must be, or made to be, reasonably flat. Therefore, for medium format scans (perhaps 35mm also) I highly recommend the medium format negative carrier and Anti-Newton Ring Glass Insert from betterscanning.com. There is a photo.net thread which demonstrates the Nikon 9000 scanner with and without the ANR glass inserts. I hear/read that the Nikon Coolscan is surperior to the V700 but alas Nikon Coolscan has been discontinued. Attaching example of scanned negative (right panel) and same negative after flattening (left panel)

00Zcrs-416973584.jpg.2deb965e4510ae6f0c631b0bf0544178.jpg

  6.
Perhaps this has previously been discussed? How to flatten the 120 negative in its epson V700 film holder. It makes a difference if the negative bows even a little. As of now I "sandwich" the negative in its holder above and below with strips of stiff contact paper leaving exposed only the frame I wish to scan. I do the same on the Microtek 120ff scanner. I am attaching an image which depicts what I am trying to describe. The image is the microtek film holder which holds only1 film strip but the idea is the same. In the attached image the frame I am set up to scan is the frame in the second slot. Is there an after market vendor out there you sells a film strip holder with cross "ribs" perhaps between frames (like the coolscan 35mm holder) to fix my problem?

00Zbx4-416023584.jpg.a747b65c1c0d1235d645b5b05b56dac0.jpg

  7.
Epson's answer is: "In response to your email, you would need to select SP3880 EFP PK 2880 v1 for both profiles.." This setting produces a print (for me) which appears to be underexposed 1 fstop. The settings of "Input Profile, default setting SRBG IEC61966-2.1 and "Printer Profile", Pro3800 Triditional Photo Paper_PK or SP3800_EFP_PK_3800. Both of these are designated downloads for the Pro3800 Printer depending on the site.

  8.
A basic question. I know nothing about printer/paper profiles -never used them. I use an Epson Styles 3800. To

print in photoshop I have many options for paper size and for paper types "photo black" and "matte black". I

recently purchased Epson "Traditional Fiber Base look and feel" ("Traditional in Europe and in America

    called "Exhibition").

I found two profile links. One for BW paper, the other not specified.

I downloaded acolor (I assume) ICC profile for this paper from <a h

    ie=yes&profileFor=proImagingICCProfiles_StylusPro3800 and selected Exhibition Fi

    ber Paper
and from http://people.csail.mit.edu/ericchan/dp/Epson3800/abwprofiles.html for

    Black and white.
I directed the download to save the ICC profile in windows/system32/spool/drivers/color according to Epson instructions. If the profil

e came in zip, I cannot remember, then I Unzipped and installed. Assuming

I have done all this correctly, now how do I direct my Epson 3800 to use this profile when printing o

    n that paper?
I am bewildered. Thank you for your help
