Frankie, the E2 and E2 are rare cameras - collectors items. And expensive. You would have
an easier time finding an F model.

With regards to the removable hood making the swap for a brighter screen much
easier, isn't this something I'd only get done once anyway?

3 points:

1. With a removable finder you can install a brighter screen yourself (no need to pay
someone else $$ to do it).

2. With a removable finder you can easily change between a fresnel or ground glass sreen
if you want to, etc. for close up fine focussing applications.

3. The removable finders are in general more ergonomic and better built than the older
fixed version IMO.
-
The biggest advantage of a Rolleiflex with a removable finder is that you can easily change
focussing screens. Also, I find the hood mechanism to be more fefind and superior on the
removable finder models. If you get a Rolleiflex with a non-removable finder, chances are
that it will have one of the older dimmer screens in it. The latter, brithter screes are easier
to see with, although the older screes are equally easy to focuss if the light is good.

FP4+, HP5+, Tri-X
-
Yeah, they cracked the basic design years ago - the rest has just been icing on the cake :-)
-
You want something that is not too contrasty (to capture detail in the brides white dress and
the grooms dark dinner suit - if that is what they are wearing). I am a big fan of HP5+ in
such situations, or Tri-x. NIce old grain films which are both excellent for portaits.
-
So David, just out of interest. How does the camera actually compensate for the less film on
the spool. Does it use gears or does it use some sort of de-coupling system inside the film
magazine so that the winding action does not carry through to the film back?

Sorry to disagree - three bad experiences with KEH. Never again!!
-
Bakker,
p.s. You are now on "my ignore list" - go find your sport elsewhere, I am not intersted.
-
Bakker,
There is no right and wrong when you are putting forward your experiences. People can
have different experiencs of exactly the same thing and they are all equially valid.Right
and wrong do not come into it, especially when talking about something as subjective like
what a lens looks like and how it performs. People can and do argue about the numbers,
but the finer points of photography, how things feel and handle and look are unique to
each individual. You should try listening to other peoples opinions some time, you might
acutually learn something, rather than always trying to shoot people down.

update: just fired of 12 shots (without film) and i did notice that from frame 6 onwards
there is a slight sensation of slippage following a tiny clicking sensation in the winder,
which dissapears after frame 12, i.e. for the final wind on.
-
I have a new 503cw too - can say I have experienced the slippage you refer to. I would take
it back to the store and have them look at it or let you try another to see if it is an isolated
issue.
-
p.s. I was expressing my opinion based on my experience. As such it cannot be wrong. It is
my experience. You can agree with it or disagree but you cannot say it is not what I have
experienced.
-
Stuart, OK. Thanks. Nice images on your website by the way.

Hey Stuart,

We are just expressing our opinions and experiences here OK. If you want to have your
own comments respected then start by respecting those of other people. No need to put
down anyone by calling their views nonsense.

Nobody said the Mimaya lacked soul. I said that the Hasselblad has soul, and I
was referring to the often commented experience of the Mimaya indeed being ultra-sharp
but, as with other Zeiss lenses, the Hasselblad is capable of producing a very realistic and
beautifull three-dimensionality that is not so apparent with other lenses.

It is an unfortunate consequence of the digital age we live in that dicussions about lenses
often come down to numbers, the sharpest, the fastest, etc. etc. and people often miss
the most important aspect - what they look like!

Now, you may not agree with the above. One of the joys of photography is that it is a
subjective experience after all. But do have the education at least to respect others
opininions and experiences.
-
Wait till you see some SWC pictures - they make the Mimaya look 2nd class. Seriously. The
Mimaya may be sharp but the Hasselblad has soul baby!

Alan, as a film camera the V series is a better deal right now second hand. Much better. The
H series are 645 cameras and overpriced second hand for what they are (if you look at the
few with a BIN on eBay today). Coupled to the fact that the V series looks to be a much more
robust and durable system - without forgetting those wonderfull lenses.
-
Hi Thomas, welcome to MF photography. Nice camera you have.
-
Roger,
p.s. just looked at your site - very nice work you are doing.
-
Roger,
Your camera sounds like it is badly in need of a service. A properly serviced 'Blad should not
lock up at all.
-
Mel,
They did nothing about the DOA. I was stuck with it.
-
Bad experiene here. Camera (Rollei 6003) was DOA.
-
Matt,
I would also be very cautios with that seller on eBay - if you read their feedback they seem
to use the feedback system to keep their buyers in line. Just check out the negatives they
have left, they mostly seem to be retaliatory votes for buyers who were not happy. Steer well
clear!!
-
Zhou - yikes, 3 months!!
There are other, equally reputable repairmen who will fix it much quicker than that. Have
you tried Jurgen?

Market prices for second hand goods can only really be described in terms of maximum and
minimum prices. i.e. a pruce range. For an idea of what people have been paying recently
check he completed items on eBay bearing in mind it is generally cheaeper to buy the items
as a set than separately.
