Wonderful subject matter and great light. I'm having a problem reconciling the foreground which looks like b&w and the background mountains and clouds which look like very under-saturated color. I'm sure it was just the light that day but I would do the whole thing in b&w and dodge some of the highlights in the mountains and clouds. Wonderful landscape and composition.

The vignetting fits very well with the subject matter. Good choice. I like the light coming in on the back of the statue. It shows the detail nicely. I do think I would have cropped out the downspout on the left as it draws my eye away from the main subject which for me is the statue. Well done.

Great subject matter. To me it says the loneliness of an off season beach. The sky and sea are both great with their contrasting tonal values and the wrapped umbrellas evoke a sense of poignancy. I like it.

Very unique and extraordinary. A perspective you don't see very often. It definitely make me wonder what lies just beyond those clouds and how you got such a great shot. I like it.

I like this. The contrast of the puffy clouds with the angles of the man-made construction is brilliant. I wish I could see more tonal range. This one almost cries out for HDR. Well done.

I like this. The haziness of the fog is great and you really get the feel of the day. Wonderful subject too and the perspective of the bridge is wonderful. It almost has a medieval feel - except for the modern windows & skylights. Very nice.

Nice textural detail and good play of light and shadow. I like the unfolding.

Great contrast of the clouds and grass. The lone lighthouse/house is always a favorite subject of mine. I think I would bring the light down a bit in post processing to get more of the detail. The depth of field also suffers a bit in the foreground being a bit blurry. Perhaps you intended that, perhaps not. Nice photo.

Great perspective and color. Very unique point of view that I haven't seen before. Very well done

This is a great photo in compositional, color and lighting. You hit all the right notes in this one, especially the lighting. It really shows off the textures and depth of the different elements. Well done!

I like it. Nice slice of real life and the lens choice is great for this.

Great detail and I like the centered composition. I also like the lighting, with the dark pews and the light increasing as you scan upwards. Well done.

I really like this photograph. I love the low key approach, the rugged masculinity of the subject that you captured so well and the rolling paper focal point. Well done.

I really like this photo. I love the lighting and the subject is beautiful. It looks like a musician that really loves his instrument. Well done.

I like this photograph. When I first looked at it I could readily put it in context and identify with it. The story looks something like this to me: Two people that are used to being "haves" are now the "have nots." Maybe the husband died and left them penniless, hence the good clothes, and they aren't used to wandering. The little girl doesn't understand it and doesn't like it and is sulking, not at the camera but not looking at her mother. The mother is trying to get her to keep going but is having a hard time of it. The train tracks say that they have a ways to go before they can rest.
I think it's well posed and I like very much the expression on the little girl's face. I would like to see the bundle the woman is holding not so overexposed. That's a distraction in an otherwise fine photograph. A darker bundle would have been better.

Here it is 2011 and this picture looks just as good. Just wanted to say how much I liked it and that I saw it on that bottom strip that they now put on the forum posts. Very well done.

Wonderful. Great sense of scale with the hut in front of the trees. I might brighten it a bit - or it may be my screen. Just frame it up and hang it on your wall. Nice job.

I love the composition, I don't like the lighting. The white looks too gray. It looks like fake snow. The green looks too dark, gray or black in some areas. The DOF is too shallow for a composition like this I think. It leaves the needles looking fuzzy without adding anything to the overall composition.

I bet you have 20-30 more shots like this, where you waited to get the light right on the statue of liberty but weren't able to. This is difficult to critique because I love parts of it and I hate parts of it. I love the treasure of the statue of liberty, which isn't obvious at first but then you spot it and it makes the whole photo take on new meaning. How nice it would have been to have the sunbeams on the statue but we can't control mother nature, can we? I also love the layers of color, the gray clouds, the yellow sky below the clouds and the steely black water are wonderful contrasts. The part I hate is the blown out sections of the clouds which command my attention and make me look at them too much. I would tone them down and maybe lighten the sky near the statue of liberty. Overall, I like it but it needs some work to make it stunning.
