<p>I think like so many other things, when it bothers one person that complains loud enough, it becomes a policy. And like all policies, when we didn't object to the ones that don't affect us, we leave the door open to the ones that do affect us. Hence we have all of the silly policies and laws that bog down our daily lives for no other reason than someone, somewhere didn't like something.</p>

<p>When my granddaughter was born my daughter allowed me to attend the home birth to take pictures. The hard part was to be as unobtrusive as possible so as not to make a sacred birth event into a photographic event. Feedback from parents and midwives confirmed that they hardly even knew I was there, but I got some wonderful photographs that my daughter just loves. The midwives also wanted to use some of them for business purposes, which we were happy to allow. The coolest thing though was determining the exact moment of birth from my camera record as she was born at 11:59 pm. I think it would be a shame if this weren't allowed.</p><div></div>
