I know of no exception to the rule that the most open aperture maximum (f/3.5) will be at the shortest focal length (in the case at 15mm), and the smallest aperture will be the maximum at the longest (f/5.6 at 85mm).

OK, thank you JDM. I guess my current lenses all have the same aperture at any focal length.

I sold my tamron 28-75mm when I went full frame 5d thinking i'd replace with a 24-70, but ended up not liking full frame 5d and came back to a crop body.

Lynn, I'm wondering why you didn't like the full frame camera. I'm making a decision now, needing a 2nd body and thinking I'm going to stay with the crop sensor but considering going with a full frame. I'd like to hear why you went back to the crop sensor.

I have one old battered up suitcase with wheels with all my amateur studio equipment - lights, backdrop, stands, umbrellas, laptop, clamps, cords and cables, a Selphy printer. I roll it with me when I do on site stuff. It works very well for me.

What does it mean when a lens has a range for the largest aperture, like a Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6? When is it 3.5 and when is it 5.6?
