  1. The last image of a wonderful day spent in Yosemite. I noticed the snow-capped rocks as I

was driving out of the valley. The sun had set earlier and there wasn't much light. The

exposure needed to be long in order to get the aperture small enough for a large depth of

field. Any comments would be appreciated.

  2. A different visual interpretation of this past weekend's moonrise over North Dome. My

previous submission was a vertical telephoto composition of the moonrise (see my portfolio).

I happened to notice some blackbirds flying about and patiently waited for one to rise above

the horizon line. Thanks for any comments.

Was doing some night photography at the Fresno Fair and saw this composition. Created by

combining flash with a slower shutter speed to get a freeze/blur effect.

  3. Found this composition while walking along the Merced River. I was attracted to the strong

contrast of the dead oak tree branches framing Half Dome. I was reminded of the severe

conditions that have helped shaped Yosemite Valley.

    Mono Lake 2006

Hadn't been to Mono Lake for several years and was amazed by how much more water the

lake has. Areas I once explored are now protected by or under water. Your comments are

    always appreciated.

Part of my "Chance Encounters" series. Found this image while waiting our final debarkation

from our Alaskan cruise. Your comments are always welcome.

  4. Your image shows a keen awareness of the importance of light and a richness of tones. I like it!! I teach HS photography and assign a project on weathering/decay. With you permission, may I copy and share this image with my students?
  5. Your content is fine. The problem with shooting in overcast conditions is the flatness (lack of contrast) in the scenes and the lack of directional light. The beauty is that a properly exposed image will have lots of digital information that you can enhance in a program like Photoshop. I've attached your image with a few very quick adjustments to help the image tones "pop" a little more. Mind you, this has not had near the time or detail work spent but something where you can see some change. Feel free to take a look at my portfolio to get a better look at what I'm talking about.

I like the graphite drawing look of this photograph. I teach H.S. photography and am always looking for new approaches and styles the students can learn/use. If you care to to share your technique, I'd love to hear from you. Would you mind if I copied this image to show my students? -Ron-

While wandering through Sitka, Alaska, I came across this decaying grave marker in an area

becoming overgrown with dense vegetation. From my "In Natures Time" series. Your

    comments are more than welcome
