I had this very problem today! I have a panoramic photograph that I cannot get printed correctly at normal places. I came across Ezprints.com and they do panoramics. Haven't tried them yet, but they will not crop your photos, and are pretty cheap... I'm going to try them out, I guess I'll let you know... :)

Thank you! I googled this and found one thing that said the hot shoe adaptor, but could actually find one to buy. Thanks for the link Mario! :) And thanks Carnagex!

Ok, this may be a dumb question, but bear with me, I'm new to studio lighting. I just got the "Beginner Bee" package from AlienBees for Christmas. The sync cord that comes with it doesn't fit my camera. My question is, does the Xsi not have a sync port, or am I crazy? If it doesn't have the proper place to plug in the sync cord, what type of adapter could I get to make it work?

The first cord on this link is the one the light kit came with

If someone could please help me out, I would appreciate it. Go easy on me, this is my first lighting adventure, I'm used to working outdoors with natural lighting and/or a flash. Thanks!!

I agree with the before/after photo suggestions. From looking at your gallery, I can't tell what you do, and what was already there.

I love my 85mm f/1.8! I use it for portrait work, and it worked well for taking marathon photos of my mom.

I got an Alienbee light kit...that was cool :) Happy Holidays to all, and Graham, hope you feel better!

Welcome to membership! I agree, I've learned incredible amounts on this site, just by reading forums! :)

LoL! Shouldn't this be in the "off topic" section then? ;)

Ok, Josh, so what is the possibility of getting that ability to leave anonymous comments/critiques? If that would get people to leave educational comments whether good or bad, I would take it!

I think when I changed my last name, I used the "contact Photo.net" and Josh got back to me really quickly. :)

I think you still have to be at the right place at the right time, and then hope with your 8fps you got "THE" shot. Some shots happen so fast it could be missed or whatever, and while you are snapping away, you still may not get the greatest shot ever. I think you have to be prepared to a certain extent then get lucky.

I don't have a Nikon, but I've used the live view on my Canon when I wanted to get up close and personal with a scorpion and a couple black widows. It was more for my comfort level... :)

I think you should find a way to hire a pro. Your wedding day goes by so fast and the pictures are what you have to remember the day by and show your great grandkids, and all that. I know that hiring a pro on my wedding day was the best investment I made. Just my opinion. Plus, if your friend misses the best shots or something goes wrong, couldn't that affect your friendship? Something to think about, I guess.

I like the second b&w version on your flickr stream, maybe if you cropped a little off the left side, it might help a little. I wouldn't scrap it, just keep trying :)

Ian, paypal does hold your payment until the item is shipped or until you get good feedback if you are under a certain rating with ebay or the item is over a couple hundred dollars. That confused the heck out of my when I tried to sell my camera a while back, but it's in the FAQ and everything...

But pretty much if you have to ask if something is a scam, it most likely is these days... Usually on those classified ad sites, people say stuff like "local pick up only" to avoid scams... but I'm not sure which you were using, I can only think of the popular one... :)

Well, it wasn't much money but the Canon 50/1.8 ($85). I tested it out, and put it away, until my husband reminded me that you can return things lol!

Nope, you need the extender and the close-up lens and all that. Do a search about it, I know there are a few posts on the matter. Trust me, I was disappointed when I got my lens and couldn't get those kinds of shots...lol

I think you can have a photography myspace AS WELL as a professional website and that is ok, but using Myspace as
your website is pretty unprofessional. I know lots of photographers who use Myspace to direct people to their webpages
and drum up some business, network, and advertise though.

a battery charger for a camera I don't have...lol

As one pose you could do the typical back to back pose with their arms crossed, and a "serious" look. I don't know, that
was the first thing I thought of.

I've been doing the "free" for friends thing for a little bit now too, and they've recommended me to their friends, and I did
them free too, because I'm building up my portfolio. But now the hubby says I have to start charging, but it's hard because
as in your case, my referrals have heard through their friends that I did their photos for free and they want the same thing,
but it has to end somewhere. I agree with the others, maybe just give a small discount or free prints/whatever for those
people. If they don't want to pay then they don't get your services, it's the same with any other business, right? :) Now I
just have to work on practicing this...;)

I post randomly all the time. Until your post I never really noticed genders of posters, I just read the posts...lol But it's
interesting to look at now that you've brought it up... :)

Wow, and his photos were impressive. I'd be a proud parent too! Congrats...:)
