You have no idea how helpful your comment was to me! Judging from a lot of my other critique requests, I'm doing a lot of things wrong photographically. I guess that when I get deep into the quest for self improvement, I sometimes forget to find out what I'm doing right in order to reproduce the same effects visually. Thanks for taking the time to give me some instruction.

I'll have to get my wife to grow some more grass so I can experiment with it again. I don't think there is a way to grow the grass without the glass container but changing the level of focus would be an interesting thing to play around with. I'll give it a try!!!

That does look a LOT better. Thanks again. This has been one of my most productive photo critiques ever. I just wish I could get this much direction on ALL my photos.

I hadn't thought about cropping out the top. If I crop out below the shoes would it be too close to the top of the child's head? Also, if I crop out that much of the top of the photo, does it look kind of funny with him so near the top and all this sand on the bottom side of the photo?
