1. I hesitate to say this because you've already taken it in, but this looks like an issue I had. I changed the light seals on the backs I was using and it was easily fixed. It might be appearing on some images and not others depending on how quickly you're winding the film before and after shooting.

    Good luck with it.

  2. Hello...I use a Canon Pixma Pro 100 and the Print Studio Pro software. I'm running Windows 10, and trying to print out of the latest Photoshop. When I send an image to the printer, it will simply not come out at the size I want; I'll set something to 8 x 10 in Photoshop, and it will come out much smaller. I can't find any way of adjusting it to be the size it's meant to be, and I have no idea why the software simply ignores the size I've selected. The various sliders for margins, etc, in Print Studio Pro do nothing helpful. Plus, I can't find preferences settings anywhere to get the controls out of metric and back to Imperial.
  3. Hello,

Epson 4490 scanners are available for very low prices, and apparently can handle 4x5 negatives. 'm considering a move in that direction. Apparently Windows 10 drivers can be gotten for them and there are adapters for the input jacks. However, they are a little out of date; how do people with experience feel about the quality of these scanners compared to much more expensive models like the V800?

    Thanks,

  4.
I just got one after seeing some prints by a friend that are excellent. However, I'm having a problem perhaps some of the owners here can help with. I'm trying to print an 8 x 10 on 8.5 x 11 paper, and no matter what I try I keep getting a message saying that the image is too large for the paper. I have tried both through Photoshop and the printer's software. I am pretty certain that I have the image size set properly. In the Canon "My Image Garden" box, it will even show the image as it should look on 8.5 x 11 paper, but it always clips off when I print. I've called my friend...but he's out of town. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

  5.
Craig Shearman -- thanks for the useful response. My sense is that ring flashes are often used for pretty tight portrait work, which is what interests me. It might have been a good idea for me to have been more specific in my post. I think ring flashes for portraits usually have a 12" diameter, and this unit is smaller...so I wondered, would it be any good at all?

  6.
Lex,

Thanks again. An unintended mouse click is always a possibility, but I wasn't trying to submit it for ratings. It's just that the picture was there one day, gone the next. I might just re-load it and submit it again.
The number of 170 is the total number of critiques I have received. That particular image garnered two critiques, and when it vanished, the number dropped to 168. Occasionally the internet reminds me of the remark my elderly father made when I showed him my first computer. He laughed, took a sip of his whiskey, and walked out of the room saying "get thee behind me Satan." Thanks again for the help.

  7.
On Sept. 21 I posted this:

I'm confused. A few days ago I had 170 comments, two of which were very recent. As of yesterday I have 168 comments, and the two recent ones have vanished. What's up?
Also, how do I submit a photo for "ratings"?
Thanks,
Rob Ruttan

I have noticed that in fact the photo the missing comments were made about is itself missing. I didn't delete it. Why is my photo suddenly gone?

  9.
Thanks for the responses. Lex: I think I do marginally decent work but rarely get responses. Ratings, to me, are a ball park evaluation. I'd like to get more responses in order to get more suggestions for improvement. And I know a response worth ignoring when I see one I once got a long diatribe about, of all things, the title of a picture; it came from someone who clearly didn't "get it" in a number of ways!

  10.
Hello,

I'm not sure I'm right about this, but I suspect "ratings" is disabled on my photos. I have "Allow anonymous critiques" enabled, but never seem to get ratings...could be I'm just not receiving any, but I did sort of like the ratings and wonder how to get them turned on again -- if in fact they are turned off.

Thanks,

  11.
I have admitted it before elsewhere...I am terrible with manuals, constantly confusing terminology, forgetting what was on p. 37 as soon as I turn to 38, and so on. I am trying to use a Speedlite 320EX as an off camera slave -- I've got that down. But what I want to do is avoid having the on-camera flash fire, just the Speedlite. Is this even possible? I am beginning to think not!

Thanks,

  12.
I'm pretty sure I have light leaks in my beloved 500 C/M. I get pink streaks through prints from negs I have shot in bright sunlight, but not always. (This itself puzzles me...wouldn't light leaks cause a consistent mark? Years ago I had light leaks in a Zeiss Super Ikonta... I got black dots in the same place.) Anyway, some of the negs are affected but not others. I understand that these things can be very tricky to solve. Any suggestions where I should start?

  13.
Hello,

In about a month I'll be selling my E3 with 40 - 150 and 14 - 45 Zukio lenses, a couple of batteries, a charger and a manual. I've looked on ebay and prices seem to be all over the map for the few similar items I've spotted. I'd appreciate it if anyone has an idea of what a fair & reasonable price for this gear might be.

Thanks,
