From my local park. With Fall coming to an end the leaves on some trees are almost bare. While others have a way to go.

Haven't been out much this past week but managed to take this photo at the local park just before the rainy weather set in which lasted for most of the weekend. The Fall colors are just beginning to show up here in central Connecticut.

As a side question, are the newer Sigma lenses with OS optically superior to the older versions? I know that the OS is good to have but if one always uses a tripod would it still be worth getting the newer Sigma macro lenses over the older ones?

B&H has a new Canon 60D for $599 (USA warranty) for the body plus a 16GB card and another battery pack. Great price. Includes free shipping. I bought a refurbished one myself about 6 months ago and paid $549 so this deal is even better. Check B&H's website or try this link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/732047-REG/Canon_4460B003_EOS_60D_DSLR_Camera.html
With the 70D having just been released the 60D is going for half it's original price. You can also buy the kit lens, 18-135mm, for another $200 but I would personally recommend buying a better lens separately. The 60D is a terrific camera.

The Magicicada Spetendecim (17-year cycle) cicada are presently in full force in the eastern US from Georgia to Connecticut. They emerge in their millions and even small trees can house as many as a few hundred. Here's a photo taken this weekend in Hamden, CT showing one of the nymphs shedding its exoskeleton.
