Three or four strobes all told in your kit? Probably the additional strobes need to be slaved to the one connected to the receiver.

You ask if an ebay trigger will vary the power on the bee?
Hmm...

I don't think that the XTi has a PC connection so the hot shoe adapter must be for the sync cord.

Can you rig a small tinfoil reflector? -
Sometimes the flash is not fully inserted into the flash shoe. Don't know if that might be the problem.

I'm sold on the Stofen (same as the Nikon accessory for the SB-800). I use them for bounce flash.
PS. I would crop your pic at the top of the tallest red hat and call it a keeper.

I have the Tamron 28-200 lens. I like it because it is convenient. Yes, the auto focus has problems in low light. Note: when using flash, the lens has to focus in the low level, available light.

Who is selling the lens? Can you test it before buying? Otherwise . . .

I use two Nikon SB-800s off camera pointed straight up with diffuser domes. First pic used the built in flash on my D-70 in commander mode, full TTL as I recall. The second added an SU-800, I don't remember the settings.

I like the black background for Halloween. It will never be too big and beware of obvious creases. The other props Kurt mentioned would be nice. Just don't use a hay bale - too messy.

The room lights probably will mess up your white balance so use a fast shutter speed. My Nikon defaults to 1/60 in program so I use shutter priority or manual.

You need two flashes but I don't like on camera flash. I use two Nikon flashes, one on either side, one about six feet high and one about five feet. I point them straight up and use diffuser domes. Your room may be too big to get the even reflection that has worked for me.
