Love the composition and the silky look to the falls. However I think I would prefer slightly more details in the lower left portion of this image, as the shadows are a bit dark. Is it possible that you could adjust the levels in Photoshop to reveal more details in the shadow? I think I would have metered the image somewhere in what appears to be dark shadows, so at least some details could be seen in the image.
Otherwise great work! I'm moving to the Seattle area this summer, and this is one place on my list to visit and to photograph!

Very nice!
I'm curious, what technique you use to apply diffusion to your image in Photoshop? Is that the same as using a soft filter?

I agree with the comment about being cropped too tightly. Would prefer a landscape crop, but it is still a very good shot!

I will add to the praise about excellent tonal range and DOF. I'm not familiar enough with otters to make any further judgements on this image. To me, this animal appears to be quite small, so I am wondering whether or not it was such a good idea to crop so tightly on his head? I am really curious about what the rest of him looks like.
Nice work!

I can't believe it's not film! Daily it seems I have fewer reasons to switch to digital.
Nice composition and PS work!

I'm not sure I enjoy the image as much as if there were less sky, and the subject was closer to you.
Although I love the blue sky! Blue is my favorite color, and it is pleasing to look at.

I love the way the light is reflected (in the highlights) off of the breaking waves and the beach. I would guess that the irregular shapes of the beachline is the subject of this photo, taken at a time when the lighting was exceptionally memorable.
There is too much reflected light in the image in order for this to be your typical stormy beach. (It actually looks safe!)
Way to go!

I like the composition and the idea of the sister caring for her younger sibling. But the film choice(Velvia) creates a mood that is not to be expected in real life for this kind of situation. Too saturated, and not literal enough. I would expect that a more literal rendetion of this scene, which reveals more life like details would convey much more of the sorrow or helplessness.

nice monochromatic for preserving in a scrapbook or for framing. The monochromatic format versus true colors emphasizes the ephemeral nature of the moment. I am going to be shooting a wedding soon, and I appreciate the alternative perspectives and techniques I can learn at Photo.net. Keep up the good work! I'd like to see more of your wedding portrature.

The compsition is quite nice for getting a "feel" for what exists where you were. Next time you can get in closer with your zoom, and get a shaper image by using a slow color reversal film like Fuji Velvia or Kodak E100VS, depending on how much color saturation you fancy.

I agree with all of the sentiments above, this is a striking photo, especially the balance of tones and the warmth has desireable qualities that could be viewed for hours. However I think I would have preferred slightly more detail in the trees, they just appear too dark to appreciate much. But that is just my own opinion, this is a great photo!

The tones are composed very well, but I think that the photographer should have gotten down on the knees and used the wall or the sky as background. The "top down" view is not as appealing. Very pretty birds make an interesting subject for looking at.

It has taken me awhile to get used to the idea of including something in the foreground when taking a picture of a beautiful sunset. Did you push E100VS ?

I like the reflections off of the water, but the rings around the sun, and total lack of color in the sky bugs me. It looks dark, maybe late in the afternoon. Did you use a lens hood, or get a photo from a different angle?
I wish the top portion of the image was just not as saturated and the rest of the sky was more crisp or sharp.
