This photograph expresses a peaceful moment of solitude to me. Nice use of available light and nice exposure, even more so by the use of film. Nicely done! John Kent
  2.
Has the lens experienced extreme heat recently? Since it's getting stuck while zooming I would surmise the lubricant evaporated and later condensed on the lens. I tend to think it will be limited to your lens. Either internal lubricant or if the lens seal has lost it's integrity possibly moisture, not necessarily mold.

  3.
Well Ellis I would have to say: Capturing memories, moments in time, a slice of life, capturing things I see that others do not. I enjoy shooting nature, landscape, events, people, especially children. I love night and low light photography.

I love to share what I've done either through the web or as prints. Most of what I do, I give away. I enjoy the delight I can give to people when they look at my work. I enjoy the accolades I receive. I also find it fascinating when someone doesn't much care for something that I personally think is pretty neat. It opens a window into thought processes that differ from mine.

So I get many things from photography. It's a way to give a little and take a little, while mostly having a lot of fun in the process.

  4.
You know I get the same impression that I was panning but in fact the camera was stationary, on a tripod. I did use different zoom settings but the panning effect was the very slight breeze that made the fireworks come down at a slight angle. It's especially evident when watching on a large screen tv.

  5.
I find many of the drone videos fascinating. I haven't tired of them yet although there's only so much you can do with fireworks. I recognize the safety concerns and there are always those who have drones and shouldn't be flying them. I hate to see them overly regulated but it's just a matter of time.
Here's a little video offering of my own, less the drone. http://youtu.be/1pfdaPZYv-Y

  6.
As always wonderful and varied contributions to this thread, which makes it so awesome! I will contribute three this week. #1

  7. Love this pic Tracy. It keeps showing up on the Daily Sampling and it grabs my eye each time. Love the black and white, nice lighting, an obvious sincere smile, and a beautiful child. Really nice capture. Best Regards, John
  8.
High key was what I had in mind. I was using an incorrect definition for it though. It's made for some interesting research and reading though. Upsides to being wrong. ;-)

  9.
I've always associated photos with white whites and black blacks (and little or nothing in between) as high contrast, meaning the range between the black and the white is high.
Photos that were mostly shades of gray were low contrast because their range in contrast was low.

Tri-X 400 for high contrast and Tri-X Pan for low contrast.

That kind of blows my mind. ...I may not be able to sleep tonight. lol

  10.
Perhap H.264/MPG4 is what you are interested in? Check it out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.264

  11.
I knew if I posted, it would come to me. High key is what I'm thinking of. Sorry for the wasted bandwidth.
