1.
Thanks for all advice.
Turning room lights on is one of the solutions. However, the organizer asked for wide angle picture for every speakers (normally 5-6 speakers) including their scientific research/report presentation slide on screen. If their PowerPoint slides were in light background, it's more challenging.

 2.
I was shooting a 300 hundred people business conference over the weekend.
The conference was held in a hotel's conference center with theater setting, bright screen and good lighting in podium area but dark in audience sitting area when hall light was dimmed down. I was told to shoot wide angle (Sigma 10-20 mm on Nikon D300 without flash) to cover whole audience, screen, stage and speakers in one picture. The result was not satisfied, when the screen and speakers were in good exposure, audience was dark. I was thinking to take few picture in different exposure and stacked them in post editing but the images were blurry because people were moving. Due to the limitation of D300 sensor, slow speed shutter caused images blurry, pushing high ISO was even worse.
Any advice to produce a sharp, well balance lighting conference photo for media/press release use ?
Thanks.

 3.
Thank you Scott for your detail information.
The reality is I cannot afford to hire a web designer and spending too much time or money on a non-business website. I prefer something more personal and yet simple for dummy like me.

 4.
Happy Holidays.
I'm a website dummy despite I'm planning to setup a portfolio site to showcase my work in a professional way with personal domain name rather than sitting in Flickr or Google Photo. First of all, I don't take photo for living, may be in future, who knows. Years ago, I had an account with Zenfolio, easy to upload without resize my picture but it doesn't look like a personal website or it's very complicate (to a dummy) to link my own domain to Zenfolio account.

What I need is a gallery style portfolio site, able to play slideshow on home page, have the options to lock selected albums with password and have the potential to upgrade to a business website with SEO features in future.
Any service provider suggestion for a website dummy ? It will be nice to have one stop service, offering domain registration, hosting and easy to use free templates from one service provider.
Thank you.

 5.
My friend purchased new D5200 with 18-55 and 55-200 kit lens package online.
From day 1 after receiving his package, the autofocus function or shutter release is not working unless it was set to manual focus.
I put his two kit lens on my old D300, no problem. I added my 18-200 zoom lens on his new D5200, either the autofocus or shutter release was not working. I could press the shutter half down but it never triggers the mirror or taking picture. I reset the camera but no luck.
Was something wrong with the electrical connection between lens and body of this brand new package or something wrong with the menu setting ?
Return to online store is the only option ?

Thanks.

 6. I've been using PW MiniTT1 paired with FlexTT5 (Nikon) for 3 years+ and they all worked fine. In my recent two studio shooting events, I changed all TT5 to Basis mode and two Nikon SB600 flashes in M mode. Unfortunately, the first shoot (first shutter pressed) was not able to trigger two flashes on FlexTT5. 1) The first shoot failed, then the following shoots back to normal. However, if the camera idled for 5 minutes or more after a few shoots, the first shoot failed again. 2) The distance between TT1 and TT5 was less than 60 feet. 3) Even when I pressed directly on the Test button on TT1, it's not 100% successful trigger the flashes in every press. what causes this trigger problem ? a) Basic Mode ? b) Weak battery power on TT1 ? c) on camera TT1 connection issue ? d) need firmware update ? I updated all firmwares in July 2015. Thanks.
 7.
After shooting still picture or short HD video for clients, they prefer to receive files saved on USB thumb drives. Ideally, the USB flash drives be delivered to clients in a presentable jewel case with cover photo inserted. I searched local Best Buy or Staples but only found DVD jewel case but nothing for USB flash drive. Any suggestion ?
Thanks.

 8.
Thanks.
In quick shooting situation with one on-camera flash, something like a dark skin bride on pure white wedding dress walking out church with black tux groom, which part shall I meter ?

 9.
Last week, I took indoor portrait picture with two speedlights on umbrella, for my 5 years old niece on pure white lace skirt.
Exposure on her face, arms and legs was perfect but the lace skirt was blown out and lost all details. Without editing, how can I get a perfectly balance exposure on her face and skirt ?
Many thanks.

 10.
I saw many wedding photo with bride's wedding dress being blown by "wind" but I don't think it's a windy situation or wedding photographers carried a big fan. How can they do that ? Lifted by assistant and removed assistant in PS ?

 11.
Great, it works.
One more question. Can I assume when all Nikon TT1 and TT5 are set to basic, any TT5/TT1 (Nikon or Canon) on Canon DSLR is able to trigger Nikon Speedlights on Nikon TT5 basic mode ? Or it has to be Canon TT5 ?

 12.
Thanks for all excellent advice.
I have some concern about the windy weather in winter if I set up one 60" umbrella 7 ft high behind me, unless I added sand bags. It will cause more trouble if I need to keep moving to different background outside the church.

 13.
I will do my church's outdoor group photo in front of church this Fall. The weather will be wet and dark here in Vancouver. The group will be formed from 4 to 30 people. I have Nikon Speedlight SB800 on my D300 and one 20" x 20" softbox on light stand. If this softbox is too small for 30 people, what size and shape do I need to get the volunteer job done ?
I won't have assistant, two lights may be too much trouble for one-man-band. Do I need to rent battery powered strobe light and large octagon softbox or my SB800 speedlight and smaller softbox set up behind me pointing down to the group center will work ?
Thanks.

 14.
Thanks for all great advice. I can save more now.
Just wondering how to set TT1 to basic ? connect it to computer ?
No need to make any change on the transiver TT5 ?

 15.
Greetings.
I have couple Pocket Wizard miniTT5 and miniTT1 (Nikon mode) to trigger my Nikon SB600, SB700 and SB800. They all work fine in my studio and event photo. Recently, I have a partner who is on Canon, wants to join the wireless flashes group. Just wondering if there is any simple way to add a mini Pocket Wizard trigger like miniTT1 (Canon mode ?) on his Canon to trigger my Nikon flashes group on MiniTT5 in M mode ?
If this doesn't work, is there any cheap universal wireless flash triggers and receivers set (I don't need TTL feature) that work well on Nikon and Canon camera ? Something like adding any flash on wireless receiver and fired by trigger signal sending from Nikon or Canon camera ?
Thanks.
