1.
Hmmm....something to think about, for sure! But, it's been in my "vault" for 2 years already, since I got it. Not knowing anything about it, I decided to just lay low with it until such time as I needed to use or sell it. I doubt I'll ever have the money to buy a Leica body, especially being out of work for 4 months! Bills to pay, yadda, yadda...you've heard it all before. Then again, selling it may be more difficult than I think...I have it on Craigslist since early this morning and have not had even one hit. Thanks for your input, tho, I appreciate a different point of view, Pete.
Thanks, Lori

  2.
I find myself in posession of this great little lens, and I'm not sure of it's value or usefulness today. It was my fiance's Dad's, who was killed in 1991, and has been in a sealed case-unused- for all these years. It appears to be in excellent condition, no apparent scratches or flaws on either of the outer lenses.
Serial # (E 39) 3396756. Says Germany on the side of the UVa filter, and Canada on the plastic hood.
I am looking for any info you can give me--good, bad or indifferent as I will probably sell it soon, so I need to know more about it. Is there a specific site I can go to with the serial number? Maybe another site for old Lietz lenses? I've been Googling it, but am getting nowhere fast!!
Thank you for your help,
3.
Thanks, guys,
I've read a couple of reviews on the Fz28, and it seems like a better camera for the money (less of it, too!) than the Sx10. It also has extras and add-ons that the sx10 doesn't, like lens filters and a hood. What the sx10 has that the fz28 doesn't is a rotating LCD, which I'd love to have. But like you've mentioned, I've got to compromise somewhere. Have I got this right? Any other advice on either of these cameras to help me make my decision? Also, thanks for the input on Camera Giants--that would've been a grave mistake! Really appreciate your help!

  4.
Looking to upgrade from my Canon A570 IS to a great P+S for under $300. I like to take macros of flowers and bugs, but am expanding into portraits and would love to get good shots of birds, too. Basically, a camera that can do it all, and do it really well! Looking at the Canon SX 200 IS vs. Finepix S1500. Also is "Camera Giants", an online store, reputable? They seem to have the best prices. Thanks for your help, advice and continued support.

  5.
Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble uploading photos to their portfolios? When I click on "browse..." no photo galleries come up to choose from to upload. I've been at this on and off for about an hour with no change or luck. My computer seems to be working fine otherwise (Mozilla FF). Appreciate your thoughts or advice...

  6.
Okay, here I go again....we just found a few more cameras and a flash in that same closet! Needless to say my fiance is a packrat and a slob, but what seems to be a good find is this Pentax Program Plus with a Pentax 50mm lens attached. It appears to be in great condition. I also came across a Vivitar 550 Fd M/P/O bounce flash in good condition. Is the Pentax better than or equal to my Minolta Maxxum 7000 which I use for film (not lately). Would you suggest we keep these old cameras for posterity, sell them or use those which are useable w/o needing exorbitant expenditures for cleaning and fixing? I'm really not sure at all--never had such a cache befall me before!! (btw-we also found a Kodak Ektralite 10, and a Minolta AF-Sv). So grateful for any advice you can give and for your opinions. Thanks, Lori

  7.
Thanks to all of you for the info and the laughs! Lauren-I'm not sure what you mean but, thanks for joining this thread! I will continue to research these items, as suggested. If anyone has any further or more specific info or direct links, please let me know as I am a newbie to these cameras and lenses and don't want to do anything to harm them. I appreciate all your comments and opinions. Warm Regards, Lori

  8.
Okay, guys, take a chill pill! He brought the cameras to me because it's my thing, not his. These were his Dad's equipment, who passed many years ago, and other than that he has no attachment to them. We are looking to value and possibly use them, not necessarily sell them and I am seeking any info PN has on these old beauties so that I can use them properly. His Dad was a camera nut and we will cherish these cameras and lenses in his honor.
As for that closet...it was chock full of a mess of "stuff", George Carlin style! So far the cameras are the only things he hasn't thrown out. My jewelry is safe!

  9.
I just came across 3 old cameras in the back of my fiance's closet. Can you please tell me what the value may be today and if they are still useable. What format are they and are they B+W or Color or both and what type film do they use? Any info you can give me will be much appreciated.
They are: #1-Agfa Clipper Special F:6.3; #2-Ansco Regent; and #3- Arco 35.
Thanks a lot, Lori

  10. Thanks very much to all of you for all your input and advice. I'll be sure to keep it all in mind if I get the job. Heck--I'll keep it in mind anyway! I've done a bit more research, and it looks like Pamela is right on the money--it's more of a sales job than photography. The parents can take their own pix w/the company's cameras and I'd have to convince them to buy the big packages. Or they can let me take the pix and then I'd have to convince them to buy the biggest packages! Might be good experience--I've not worked w/any babies yet--but my strong point is not sales, so I don't hold out too much hope, altho I'd like to give it a try.

About babies' eyes--babies are really not as fragile as we believe them to be. They're pretty tough lil characters...look what they go thru just to get here! A direct flash would be too harsh as a light source regardless of how sensitive their eyes are or are not, but I'd get a shiny face and tight shut eyes--right? So why bother? Personally, I think they could handle it. Just my 2 cents worth, folks!

    Thanks, again, Lori

  11. thanks, pam, that does answer a couple of my questions and I appreciate your response. It does help me a little. But, this company is a little more creative with it's photos, and I'm still looking for some ideas/help as to the best ways to creatively shoot newborns. I've seen some beautiful images on PN and would like to hear from some of the people who work with babies a lot.
