1.
Here, in the UK, the "usual" process-paid K64 (the last batch, process by 11/2010) is still available from larger stores of the "Boots" pharmacy/household chain, and from at least one of the big mail order firms.
I'm wondering whether Kodak UK have perhaps over-estimated the final UK demand....I don't think that Kodachrome has had quite the iconic status here which it had in the US, and a lot of photographers seem to have changed over to Fuji when it first became easily available and heavily promoted here. Maybe the final buying is just from the few diehard Kodachrome enthusiasts plus the odd film bought by people wanting to shoot one last roll for nostalgia.
In my own case, I started stocking the freezer when K25 and K200 finished, so I had no real need to buy more when the discontinuation was announced.

 2.
The mailing envelopes in the latest batches of UK pre-paid Kodachrome are overprinted with a warning of the last date for processing availability as 11/2010. Guess that gives allowance for possible seasonal postal delays, etc., and plenty of time for Kodak in Lausanne to get them on to Dwaynes by 31st December.
Ian - if you can't use your film by that last date, why not sell them on Ebay or similar...no need to waste them.

 3.
I'd agree with Russ ^^^^^.
I have occasionally been asked to take pics of a family event, and have happily done this for nothing, (or the cost of materials if film was used or prints provided), or sometimes handed over the negs or digital disc, etc., where it's immediate family or close friend....but definitely only to the person who asked me in the first place.
I'd guess in this case the lady probably didn't ask with any malicious intent, perhaps thought that you were just taking the photos casually as a guest, but you should explain that you had been asked to take the pics "officially" and professionally, so that you can only give them to the person who paid for them.
