1.
Hi guys and girls, I have not posted here for over 2 years now but thought I might give it another go and see how

    things progress here.

    <

p>My wife and kids just gave me the new Cybershot P&S that can also do panoramic shots which has just r

ecently been released here in Aus, no doubt you guys in the northern hemisphere have had more exposure to it to d

    ate.

    <

p>I still have my EOS and love film but to be honest I have not dusted it off for a while now, too darn busy! So I gav

e it a whirl on fathers day and it seems to take some good quality shots and I was amazed to see that it has 14M

P and had a lot of options for manual exposure settings and some settings I am not sure about and the manual doe

    s not cover properly.
I tried the pano setting without reading too much on it and it looked pretty good but obviously not as good as a ded

icated pano camera. The lcd screen is a good size and much easier to see in sunlight than my daughters older Can

on DSLR so all in all I may have been bitten by the shutter bug again.
Any advise on how best to use it would be appreciated or any things I should take note of feel free to jump in and let

    me know.
Thanks
Dave

  2.
It is sounding like the main reason Diane was so well know was all to do with the timing, and little to do with the ART?
I must be honest and say that what I have seen of her work so far does not do much for me. Then again I am one of the great unwashed heathen types with limited ARTISTIC skill, but really is her work so great as to receive such a reputation?Ultimately would she be given any recognition at all in todays world?

  3. I just happened to catch a movie about Diane Arbus which stared Nicole Kidman and I thought I would look her up on

the internet to see what made her an iconic American photographer.

What was it that made her so famous, was it her style, artistic treatment of each print, flair for compositionm or

simply that she was a wealthy woman who dared to come out of the kitchen in the 50's and 60's and catalogue

    people who were socially unacceptable.

I am not critisising her work I have no right to do that just wondering if it was just timing that made her so imfamous,

    not artistic flair?

  4.
I think you guys need to let go of your dislike of Daly and his problems and focus on the real issue here. It is printed on tickets and signs are at all entrances, NO CAMERAS ALLOWED.
Why is that, oh maybe to protect the income of the Pro shooters inside who want to earn a buck by shooting sporting events, which pro got paid for the shot of Daly's face that is plastered all over the media here.
The guy is an idiot who thought he was above the rules of an event, if you are pro shooters here you should be supporting the event by condeming the spectator, he is taking away your money.
As a side note I watched a golfer loose 60k in prize money many years ago by missing a single shot on the last hole, how would you feel if you were distracted by some wanabe and that was removed from your own pocket, it is worth a lot of money to very few but good on them for being able to do that for a living!
Personally I think he should have used a 4 iron to do the camera not a tree.

  5. Not one of you knows what will be in 50 years or even longer, but those of us with prints from either film or digital will look back and say look at that how young we were. Those too arrogant to think that it will never happen to me will wonder what it was like as their memory fades!
  6. Interesting that most peoples important photos are printed, commercial or personal. I have met many people who have lost years of memories due to hard drive crashes. I feel that the average man or woman on the street will not go to the lengths that the pro's like yourselves do, in years to come there will be a shortage of family memories within a large number of the general population.
  7. I recently moved into a new house after 7 years of renting because I bought a business, after all that time my wife

and I were able to finally unpack all of the boxes of stuff we had not opened due to us having to move as leases

    expired, good fun.

In one of those boxes we had all of our old family photos which were taken with an old camera well before we

upgraded to SLrR's. 23 years of memories and kids growing up, our first house all 4 kids as babies , toddlers, etc

etc, really good to catch up with where we came from and how everything has changed.

So now we have the task of putting some into frames again and making our house a home, looking forward to it.

Now in this day and age, who of you can guarantee that in 20 years you will find an old box of CD's with all your

memories on it and be able to sit back and remember where you came from and how much it has changed.

My worst threat is a house fire, heaven forbid, what threats do you face?

    Food for thought!

  8. They say that we see what w want to see in images like this, I'm sure its really Pamela Anderson, or a Roman God for those inclined!

A similar thing happened in Sydney a while back, when several fence posts lined up it looked like the Virgin Mother, they came in droves for that one?

  9. Hi David,

I have no problems nor a subscriber at present but have noticed this thread and read most of the posts. For you to personally handle this for this amount of time is amazing in todays world, you must be given credit for toughing it out as long as you have, it shows how passionate you are about what you do good for you.

I must say that if you had your time again you may have organised your business distribution differently, but you have not caved in and are trying or have succeeded in righting any wrongs.

Over the years I have had the displeasure of dealing with con men and I can personally say that you are NOT one of them, just my 2 cents worth!

  10. 1. Ther is so much talent out there that I pale into oblivion.

    2. I don't understand Artists.

    3. The word ART is used to cover truth.

    4. There are many many really nice people on this site.

    5. There sre equally as many rude people. generally digital fanatics.

    6. Stay away from Philosophy forums

    7. Don't bite when pushed and don't break the rules unless you are one of the lucky ones

  11. I have a Tokina wide angle and use a Hoya polariser and a Cokin ND, they are both great oh and I use a UV filter for protection.

My only problem is vinyetting oops not spelt right never mind you get the picture which is a real pain, even when I check the view finder I can still end up with it so be carefull. The uneven sky can be a problem if you are not carefull with the polariser but worth the money imo!

  12. Uh Ha,

I have just read a post about URL signatures being not allowed which is ok by me but does this apply to what I wish to do.

I bought some prints from a guy in Canmore Alberta Canada and think his work is very good. I was going to post a comment about him and link to his site, is this breaking those rules, if so thats ok just thought I'd give a recommendation to whom ever.

  13. Not being an IT professional I was wondering if someone could tell me how to create a link to a web site that I think

is worth a look for people who like nature photography?

This would obviously be posted in the Nature forum with a short message.

    Thanks
